That was another great place to hang out besides the Agora. Is the building still there in New haven? Going back to CT next week I am takng a ride to Dexter st and getting a piece of history. Saw some great music met some great people wish I had pictures from those days.

right after i came to live in new england my sweetie and i saw some shows there. we saw roger mcguinn one night. he was absolutely phenominal!

another night we saw dickie betts and gregg allman on the same bill. dickie played, then gregg, then they both played. i can still remember standing back by the bar, dancing my arse off to "Jessica". saw some other shows there; those are the two that stand out the most.

the weird thing about the agora was that we never had any problems finding our way to the place, but we always, and i repeat ALWAYS, got lost leaving. it was that darned left-hand exit off 84 west to get there that confused us. still, the music was worth getting lost for.

i do miss the agora, and am sorry to hear that it was getting (has already been?) torn down. places like that need to exist so that we can hear music the way it was meant to be heard, in small clubs where you can get up close and personal, not in huge arenas where you need binocs to see who's on stage. places where you can afford to see multiple shows in a year, without breaking your wallet. alas and alackaday, they seem to be fewer and fewer....

While I will always be nostalgic & thankful for places like The Agora, I live in a town where we don't even have a decent bar or tavern! We only have a "sport's bar" and I hate sports bars! I like places where the emphasis is on having a few with friends, or even going in there alone - friends will always show up. Nevermind 47 TV screens. A couple of tv's are nice when a good game is on, but all sports, all the time - no thanks. Not a good hang, as far as I'm concerned. Now at The Agora, you could hang. We can't have those day's back, but we COULD have a decent bar!

As far as good places to hear music, Northampton MA has some good venues. The Iron Horse, The Calvin. Haven't been to The Pearl St. there but that looks like it has a lot to offer too. Northampton is a great town.

Drove by there today and it looks like the demolition is complete.

Also, when I said my town has no decent bars or taverns, the town is not Wethersfield. Not sure why it says that.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Cancer

Someone dear to your heart isn't exactly a barrel of laughs today, are they? Is it your imagination or are they taking a perverse delight in spreading doom and gloom in all directions? If they've got good reason to be miserable then they deserve your sympathy, but even so it may not last for long. Try to keep active and cheerful, otherwise you'll also develop a tendency to brood.
