I recently looked through the "Indiana Festival Guide for 2009 to see when the Sullivan Corn Festival was and the Park County Covered Bridge Festival was. Guess what Sullivan has not one listing in it. Who is marketing Sullivan County? I don't think anyone is. I am an avid festival goer and so are alot of people I know. I will go out of town and spend a few days and drop some money. It is called tourism. Who is promoting this in Sullivan County? I think no one is. How do you think Parke County Covered Bridge festival took off so big. It started out small. I remember going to the very first festivals. Wake up Sullivan our little Corn Festival could draw lots of people to our small town. Bringing in extra money. We are sitting on a gold mine. A nice little quaint town. Hometown hospitality. We still have a square. We could have shops. Bed and breakfast. Shows and movies. Carrigage rides. This town has potential. We have local talent who craft, paint etc. We have become lazy as a town. I crossed the rural communites of Indiana recently to find several towns that were worth stopping and checking out old homes, The squares, the old structure that are far and few.
