Is there a reason the victim of this crime has to be described as the "porsche-owning dentist"? So if anything happened to me I could expect to be labeled the "trailblazer-owning nurse". What a silly headline. Get a new columnist/editor PP.

The Porsche-owning description is to help people who might've felt sorry for the victim. It's kind of hard to feel sympathy with those who flaunt their obscene wealth in the face of everyone else mired in grinding poverty. It's maybe over the top for someone to have killed him for that though.

What a sad point of view; why is it obscene for someone to own something they aquired through their own work? You think dental school is easy or cheap?

You sound quite hostile to those that have attained success....not everyone does so at the expense of those who are less fortunate.

We no nothing about this man that was murdered.

Please dont project your own dislike of successful people onto those that cannot defend themselves

I would feel sorry for anyone that was murdered, regardless of financial status.

For $1500 you could have bought a really nice mountain bike or transit fare for a year. But instead you chose irresponsibly with a carbon-guzzling pollution-spewing automobile. Shameful.

I'd rather my dentist didn't ride his bike to the office, if you don't mind. He's somewhat elderly and he doesn't live that close to the office. Dr Joe might resent me saying that but he's not as young as he used to be.

This is big news here in Fargo where I live. The Porsche-owning description in the headline is very relative to the case because with out leads that came in about the mans missing Porshe the police were at a loss as to where to start the investigation. Thankfully the video survailance at the rest area on I-29 surely identified the Porsche in question, and the license number of the vehicle pulling it on a flat-bed leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The dentist probably deserved the Porsche. Sticking your fingers in somebodies mouth isn't the most wonderful thing to do to earn money.

The Porsche was a 1999 Boxer. This guy was brutally murdered in his own home. His wife died in March and he has a 3 year old daughter. Go to the Fargo Forum for a more comprehensive read.

Where and the manner in which my Porsche is driven; my average MPG is 29.8 over the 14 months of ownership; hardly a gas guzzler. In fact, we have four relatively inexpensive recumbent bikes for substantially less than $1,500; two of which are ridden 25 to 41 miles every day for exercise; weather permitting. Furthermore, my wife of 39 years and I have ridden the MTC from Ridgedale 5-6 times each week since the mid seventies to U of MN hospitals and IDS down town respectively. Perhaps we have a demonstration here of how sanctimonious and information self-constricted one human being can become? PS Dentists have had the highest suicide rate of all professionals. Conceivably because their job sucks so much and they are trapped by training that is not easy to transfer to another field, extensive educational costs to repay, and a million dollars in debt for equipment and overhead that is difficult to liquidate. I only hope the brutally murdered dentist found an hour or two of pleasure each week in his auto as I do.

Wow. A poor guy is murdered and you're worried about his wealth? So is there some sort of secret magic ratio of income a person earns versus how they died and how much sympathy we can give them that I'm not aware of? Rich guy = no sympathy. Poor schmuck = lots of sympathy. Is that how it works?

I'm sorry, but that's just sad if you think that.

No, I take that back. I'm not sorry.

If your beliefs are indicative of your handle (and I presume they are), I don't want any of the kool-aide that you're drinking.

BTW: My wife's cousin was shot and murdered in Jackson, Tennessee this past week. He had a wife and seven children. Is there a ratio of number of children versus the amount of sympathy that a person receives as well?

And just for this reply, I'm taking my wife and three kids for an afternoon drive through the country. I will probably even take my "carbon-guzzling pollution-spewing gas-guzzling" full-size conversion van and not the more economical American made car.

I probably should just ignore him, but he's not funny.

Mrs. R on the other hand? Completely nuts and actually pretty amusing.
