Who did Lander take the $820,000 from?
What "developer"?

Does this have anything to do with the Dixie Waste Services incinerator?

Well, that IS a good question. What other "development" besides Dixie Waste Services is in the works for Dixie County? I'm not aware of a single one - No Horseshoe beach development, no housing or other development near Cross City, only the incinerator deal. I think the incinerator got a permit in 2006, without the people knowing much of anything about it. After all, Lander owns the newspaper. It was kept pretty quiet on purpose, I suppose. I hope it won't ever be built because it would foul the air in Dixie County, and would be really bad for people with asthma and allergies.

"The bribes allegedly were in exchange for approving plans for unspecified developments."

What "unspecified developments"? Ain't nothing happening in Cross City, nor out in the county. The only thing I can remember getting any kind of a permit is that tire burning incinerator. But I haven't heard anything else about it in a good while now....is it still gonna be built? I sure hope not. I looked up some stuff about tire incinerators and found out they are really bad. We don't want something like that in Dixie County.

This project is not anything like an "incinerator" as some people are calling it.

It is a totally different and very eco friendly project that will NOT create pollution or emit vapors, noise or fumes. It actually helps the environment.

This project goes by the name of "Gasification Thermal Oxidation".

What this means is:

The process burns garbage in a self contained chamber (the smoke actually is processed in a second chamber) so there is no pollution or toxins released into the air.

The end result is reusable ash (drywall and asphalt). Metal is recycled.

How is it eco friendly:

It eliminates landfills. It is monitored by the EPA.

Right now your gargage is going into landfills, under the ground and potentially tainting the water you drink.

Gasification Thermal Oxidation can process any type of waste, in particular tires, household garbage and medical waste safely.

Furthermore, the process produces electricity which is beneficial to power plants.

All in all this is a good resource that will creates jobs and make your community safer.

There's more detail to what "Gasification Thermal Oxidation" can do that I can explain here.

It is up to everyone to do a little research to learn more about this or any other project that may actually be a better and safer choice.

Landfills is not the answer, sending garbage elsewhere and turning a blind eye because its not sitting in your back yard doesn't make the problem go away.

From what I've read - Gasification Thermal Oxidation is an alternative, safe and effective solution.

(it's an incinerator in disguise)

(helps the environment???? you have obviously swallowed the kool-aid)
This project goes by the name of "Gasification Thermal Oxidation".
What this means is:
The process burns garbage in a self contained chamber (the smoke actually is processed in a second chamber) so there is no pollution or toxins released into the air.
(you are lying here, plain and simple. you can't just burn garbage at any temperature and not produce dioxins....giving incineration a fancy name doesn't change the polluting result)
The end result is reusable ash (drywall and asphalt). Metal is recycled.
(not safely reusable...the ash is composed of toxics that should be considered hazardous waste)
How is it eco friendly:
It eliminates landfills. It is monitored by the EPA.
(you put more faith in the EPA than is advisable. You've obviously never had to deal with an industrial polluter causing a problem in your community)
Right now your gargage is going into landfills, under the ground and potentially tainting the water you drink.
(We need a good recycling program, not an incinerator)
Gasification Thermal Oxidation can process any type of waste, in particular tires, household garbage and medical waste safely.
(burning tires, garbage, medical waste produces dioxins, no matter what kind of "process" you say you use.)
Furthermore, the process produces electricity which is beneficial to power plants.
(You don't have the permits to produce electricity, you haven't got a power purchase agreement, you haven't even applied for the DEP permits to produce electricity...does the Public Service Commission know what you are up to?)

All in all this is a good resource that will creates jobs and make your community safer.
(It definitely will pollute our community, not make it safer....how many jobs does it take to run an incinerator...maybe 3?....quit lying to the people)

There's more detail to what "Gasification Thermal Oxidation" can do that I can explain here.
(call it what it is....an incinerator in disguise...not some fancy made-up name)

It is up to everyone to do a little research to learn more about this or any other project that may actually be a better and safer choice.
(I've done that and totally concluded that this process is another boondoggle promoted by mafia-types who want the subsidies and grants associated with garbage crime. Truthful info is available at www.energyjustice.net )

Landfills is not the answer, sending garbage elsewhere and turning a blind eye because its not sitting in your back yard doesn't make the problem go away.
(A good recycling program actually makes money for the county, reduce reuse, and recycle, compost, are the answers....not burning.)

From what I've read - Gasification Thermal Oxidation is an alternative, safe and effective solution.
(You need more info, bud. You haven't read nearly enough. look at www.no-burn.org )
ps. Your permits run out in August, and you haven't started building your incinerator yet. I predict you can't get the permits; if you try to get them, we will challenge you every step of the way.)

I live in Cross City, don't know what the previous post says "Barnesville, Ga"......just wanted "Research" haha of New Port Richey, that we know who you are, your history, your associations with the garbage mafia, and we don't want you in Dixie County..not now not ever. They wouldn't have you in Pasco and Hernando Counties, and we won't allow you to come here either. Go back up north where you belong and take your mafia buddies with you. Dakis and Fraccalvieri are not old dixie county names.....we don't want the garbage mafia here.

Lander wasn't the County Attorney in '06 when they are saying all of this took place. Somebody needs to look at the FBI agents involved and what their connections are. The lead agent for the FBI, is the nephew of Joe Anderson, of Anderson Columbia. I read where Lander did a public records request for records relating to Anderson's Paving contracts with the County about 8 months before he was suddenly indicted! I checked, and the County did not comply with the public records request. Hmmm

Jill,

I agree and have been told the same thing about the FBI agents involved and their relationships with Joe Anderson. Not to mention River Shores at Jena, came to a settlement with Dixie County and release all claims in the lawsuit against Dixie County and Joseph Lander.
just wondering

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Capricorn

You'll have a fabulous time if you're longing to see what's on offer in the sales, especially if you want to buy yourself some new clothes or cosmetics. However, you won't pay much attention to how much you're spending, and may even deliberately avoid thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and don't go overboard if you can't afford it.
