Houge and Uher were candidates? Are you serious? Wouldn't they want someone with more experience particularly in administration?

What are minimum qualifications for this type of position? I would hope FCHS would select someone with experience. I'm sure the internal FC candidates were only considered because they could get them on the cheap as a back up.

You mean Donnie "The Jet" Hogue of now defunct DV? Surely this can't be the same person your talking about.

Yes same guy. He's been in FC for about 10 yrs teaching and coaching. He's the Head boys basketball coach /assistant fb coach. He has turned around the basketball team that has been ugly to watch and now they are fun to watch and are winning. I've seen them play alot lately since i've been back.

They didn't hire either of them because of the experience of the man they did hire and the fact they didn't want to find a replacement for the positions they are already in.

So, they never had a chance? Which one would be better in that position?

I'd have to say Uher. He is a fair guy and he relates so well to high school kids. Excellent teacher! Not a show-boat like hogue

I heard Uher doesn't have discipline though. Parents have issues with him too.

I have never know Hogue to be a "show boat" I know my sons both think the world of him, and also Uher. But am glad that they didn't get the job so they will still be the coaches at least for a few more years till my youngest graduates.

My question is how can Hogue, a middle school PE teacher, be considered for a high school administration job? At least Uher has experience in teaching and working in a high school environment. I would also think FCHS is big enough to expect the HS principal position to be filled by someone with adminstrative experience before taking the job. I'm sure you'll hear the case that they want to keep the hire "within the system", but that has not worked in many cases in my experience with education. It is great that FCHS decided to go out side and get someone that was in an existing adminstrative position.

I wouldn't call Don H. a "show boat", but more like a "hot head". His brother Ryan is the "show boat".

How would you get administration experience if no one would hire you without it? Isn't it based on level of education ie that you have the administative courses under your belt?

New blood is need within the system. I am glad they decide to go outside FC to make the new hire. I'm was not overly excited by the internal candidates.

It's also a shame that FCHS is losing their best teachers to retirement.

Teacher....there are a lot of teachers in the FC system that I question why or how they go there. Maybe it's simply the fact that FC cannot attract top talent into their school system. It's sad that most of the best teachers at FCHS are either retiring or near retirement. I think you'll see a slip in the overall academic quality students get at FCHS when they all are retired. The only teachers that prepared me well for a post-hs education were Aitken, Masonbrink, Biel, Munn, and Svoboda. Dos FCHS really have that many shining stars of teachers to replace this group without a drop off? I sincerely doubt it. It's a tough draw to get top teachers to come to FCHS when there are a lot better situations and opportunities out there. That's simply the truth.

I agree that Nutzman is NOT a good teacher at all. I have heard very few good things about her from both students and parents alike. It's unfornunate that FC is forced to keep her since it would be difficult to find a replacement. She is definately not the person you want to be the face of your school system.

Remember all the crabby teachers there were when we were in school? You can tell who the teachers that are there for the paycheck are and the teachers that are there because they like what they do. Mr. Aitken was one of my favorite teachers of all time along with Mr. White (I still laugh when I think of all the things he would say when he would get mad!) I was terrified of that crabby old 6th grade teacher what was her name?? Ahhh she was mean!
Then there was Lampe. He had this vein in his forehead like Mr. Fritz(Norm) that when we made him mad it would pop out and he would turn beat read and start screaming! Mr. Metzger was pretty fun too. He kinda talked like kermit and it would just make you laugh if you thought about it. Mr. Weinert was always interesting especially when he would start throwing eracers at people. Mrs. Weinert was always pretty patient and would help alot if you couldn't get something right in art.
There are alot of great teachers at public now and there will be in the future too. I have sympathy for the new English teacher at HS they sure have alot to live up too!!
Maybe we should treat him or her like they did Aitken in the mid sixties and steal his car and put it in front of HS on the steps, toilet paper his yard and paint the english room red. It's easy to look back and laugh now huh Mr. Aitken? I bet even you had a vein that would pop every now and again?
