Wow, tough topic. Lots of answers that could be correct. Some could say that it could be Tom Wissman. I think he is the only one that went on to wrestle for college. Brad Olberding was the only undefeated state champ. Jason Mez was a champ and followed it up with a 3rd place finish. My vote goes for one of those 3. Bub Chapple, Scott Borer? Cmon, those guys were mediocre. We are talking about the best wrestler in FC history. Did Chicken even go to state?

I'll agree with Brad Olberding and Jason Mez. Two great wrestlers. Tim Burton was also a great wrestler who could wriggle out of any hold. I think he was on his back maybe twice in his FC career. He and his brother Bob were both State Champs.

Bubba Chapple got 2nd and 5th in State. I think that qualifies him as more than mediocre. At one point he held the state record in class B in take downs. Not too shabby.
Jim Parrish was a runner up at state. Great wrestler. What about Todd Borer and Josh Caverzagie? 2 State Champions

Jerry Mount was a mean SOB on the mat. Held a state record for takedowns at one point if I'm not mistaken. Took State too!

Brad Olberding also got 3rd as a sophmore. His senior year he only had 8 points scored on him all year with 5 of them at the state tournament.

NO one in Falls City, the kempkes boys Tony and Matt were better that anyone in falls city Matt beat Charlie Hankens every time. Humboldt is better.

I agree Humboldt wrestlers, Tony and Matt Kempkes were better than Charlie Hankins and he knew it.

Let's have a match ---- Mooma and Beaver vs. Coach Munn. We all know who would win there don't we. I think his record stands for itself. No more to be said about Humboldt wrestling on this thread.
