It's been 14 years since John Lotter murdered Teena Brandon. Shouldn't he be about up for his turn in the "hot seat"?

Executions in Nebraska are on hold, as Moore, who killed two cab drivers by shooting them in the back of the head asked and was going to be executed this week. There was a stay of executions because the Supreme Court (another case) must rule on whether the electric chair is "cruel and unusual punishment"!

I do not know when Lotter or anyone on death row will be executed.

Does Idaho have capital punishment?

It's been close to 25 yrs since Mike Ryan murdered and tortured 2 people at the Rulo "cult" farm ( a young child and young man) and he's been scheduled to die many times and keeps appealing. Heard 2 yrs ago he was out of appeals and still nothing is getting done. Ryan should go first then Lotter with 2 others sitting on his lap.

I had forgotten about the Mike Ryan case...yeah, Ryan should be about ready to keel over from natural causes by now because he was no spring chicken back when he murdered those people. They need to expedite his "fry date" before he just dies "peacefully" in his sleep or while lounging around on his bunk watching Jerry Springer and sipping Mai Tai's with the chain gang crew! Doesn't seem right for him to go out like that. I want him to suffer!

Way too many appeals,'fry em', and get it over with, or better yet, take their life the same way they took others. Why do we worry about "cruel and unusual punishment" for the criminal, but forget about the victim? "An eye for an eye" seems to fit the situation, after all of the appeals are exhausted!

These people get way too many rights. They are murderers, they should have no rights...no appeals!

Don't judge the case or Lotter or Falls City or its citizens by what you see in a movie!

I for one do not believe in the death penalty, only God has the right to take a life, and it costs too much to execute a person nowadays. In the end they will get judged fairly anyway. i really think humans are more civilized now .

Firstly, before you judge a case. you should know all the facts, rather than pass ignorant justice.

Secondly. Killing someone who murdered a transexual is not going to stop others from murdering transexuals, in fact it has been proven that capital punishment does not decrease crime. Surely a much more intelligent thing to do, would be to educate people and John Lotter about such differences in people.

Although what John Lotter did was obviously wrong, it was based on ignorance. He does deserve to be punished, but in fact if something was done about the state of American Prisons, and rehabilitation was introduced, perhaps the crime would not have happened in the first place.

John Lotter was reportedly repeatedly raped whilst in prison on previous charges. Perhaps if this was prevented, he would not have felt the need to prove his masculinity through a hate crime or by displaying power through means of rape. In addition, Lotters' laywers have claimed he has the mind of a 10 year old. whether or not this remains to be true, all facts clearly state there is something very wrong with the American Criminal Justic System. Likewise, Perhaps is Charles Faux - the policeman who failed to imprison Lotter on an actual rape charge, had actually done his job instead of being obsessed with Brandon Teena's gender reassignment, then the events which took place may not have happened.

Lastly, this case says a lot about America, it suggests that there are many ignorant people, who use Christian ethos to benefit their own gains. For example, Brandon Teena was discriminated against because people thought they were doing the right thing. It suggests that if you are not white, straight, protestant and middle class or above, no one really cares. This case was brought to light via a two films, and gay rights activists.

I think letting someone rot in prison, is far worse than ending it for them.

until you've walked a thousand miles in another mans shoes. dont judge someone. Otherwise you are as ignorant as John Lotter himself.

I agree with you, If Lotter would have gotany decent help, this would neverhad happened, We have alotof boys group homes in Nebraska that could have helped him. Boys town for one. You see, from what i heard people are selective in this town, i am not from here thank God. I think the county attorney then should have had him put in a group home so he could be helped. This could have all been avoided. He came from a very poor background so did Nisson.
