Foley Coffee Shop - Foley, AL

“A pork chop can be ordered as a side. I was expecting it to come fried, with bone-in, but it came grilled and was very moist and tender.”

"A big storefront clattering with noise from the grill and stove in the open kitchen behind the counter, Foley Coffee Shop is the locals' favorite. via Roadfood.com Reviews

Wonderful place except you better know what you want to drink before you walk in the door because they demand to know before you even get to a table. This is a pain when you haven't decided if you want breakfast or lunch and you know that you drink coffee with breakfast and iced tea for lunch. In order to protect yourself until you decide--just say 'water'.

The Foley Coffee shop has the rudest employees around. If you want good service go elsewhere. Only locals are welcomed. Travelers will be bullied and run out on rails by the manager.

No doubt about it, we do need more and better breakfast restaurants in Foley. Let's get an IHOP, a Denny's and a good doughnut shop like Dunkin Doughnuts. Steer clear of the current new rip-off doughnut chain called Daylight Doughnuts--lousy doughnuts and they cost a fortune. Oh, have you tried the new Lenny's Subs? Best subs in town and the people couldn't be nicer.

Do the people in that area not realize how much money the travelers bring in for their businesses? I personally don't think that a big chain restaurant would be the answer. People like small, cozy, hometown places where the waitresses are HAPPY in their jobs and glad to see you come in. Unfortunately the Foley Coffee Shop isn't one of them. That place desperately needs a clean sweep of new staff and management.

Word gets around when customers are treated badly. Travelers have favorite vacation spots and they DO talk to each other about places to avoid. In my opinion, this is what the owner of the place wants anyway. One local who moved to Foley a few years ago said that the place is known to not be friendly to visitors. Sadly we found that out AFTER the shoddy treatment there.

Even more sad is the fact that locals who contribute immense amounts of their time and money to support Foley are also treated badly simply because they don't have the Alabaman accent. They are retirees from other states who come there to live in peace and be upstanding and contributing citizens in their new community.

I'm having milk with my coffee today - something they refuse to serve you at the Foley Coffee Shop. I won't ever go back there and my vacation money won't be spent in Foley anymore either.

Sadly enough, if you weren't born around here, you're a visitor, no matter how long you have lived here. There is a defininte lacking of "Southern hospitality" around here. I was born and raised in the South, and a lot of people here seem to have a cuccle burr implanted anally.

I love going to Starbucks Coffee Comapny. My favorite on is in The Wharf. Every time I go, they know me, my drink, and they Treat new comers like old friends. The other Starbucks stores are very nice too. Best coffee, and great morning pastries too. Plus, seems like they all do a lot for the area too. Seen them all over volunteering and serving free coffee. I support local business, but sometimes, the big dogs have the best service.

I'm from up North and lived in a big city area. I'm used to people taking care of business without a lot of conversation. When I moved here, I was surprised that everyone wanted to talk to me. I like friendly people but, when I'm checking out at the store, I want to check out and not waste time smoozing. Over all, I find the people down here more friendly than where I came from. Another thing I really notice is that no one blows their car horn and most people are willing to give you the right of way even if it is not yours. This makes for confusion since I'll be expecting someone to make a turn which is rightfully theirs and they just sit there and wait for me to go first. A couple of things that really make me mad are people who do not return their shopping carts to the designated parking lot areas. There should be more effort made by these stores to their cusomers to do the right thing so our cars are not damaged by wind blown carts. Another thing that kills me are people who are too lazy to walk another few feet from where they park their car in a parking lot and instead stop in the middle of a lane when they see someone loading up their car and getting ready to pull out of a parking place. Many times, it takes people several minutes to load their goods into the car and while they are doing this, some inconsiderate jerk is tying up a whole lane of cars.

my daughter returned from service from Iraq a few years ago, altho we have lived in Foley over ten years, and Gulf Shores and Mobile for a total of thrity, and are born and bred southern, we were treated not only rudely but down right hostile at The coffee shop in Foley. It doesnt have anything to do with being local or not, they are just extremly ignorant people on a power trip. We walked out before even eating our meals, And to add insult to injury we were informed that they did not give any type of discount to returning veterans from Iraq even if they were from our local 711 company in Foley. We were practically shoved out the door by their rude, hostile contempt@@@@## Needless to say we have never, and will never re-turn there. I for one am extremely proud of my daughters sacrifice and service as well as her fellow soilders with the 711!!! And truely I hope the Coffee Shop goes bankrupt!!!

They won't go out of business because it is the hang-out for all of the Riviera workers. I've noticed that they get good treatment.

If you're looking for good food served with a friendly smile then I know just the place. It's called Vaughn's Family Restaurant and it's located in Summerdale.

Jack and Janice are the owners and are very nice people. Hard work doesn't scare them and they are hands on with everything. They cook, they serve food and they even help with the cleanup.

They serve a breakfast buffet Monday thru Saturday and a cafeteria style lunch Monday thru Sunday.

I have to warn you ahead of time though. They are not fancy just FRIENDLY........I should know. I work there.
