Teacher faces sex abuse charges

I am 13 Years old and Pettibone was my teacher. He always liked the girls, and that is all I am sating.

What is it with teachers these days? They can't get it from men/women their own age, so they have to go after KIDS?? Are they that low on self esteem that they have to try to get it from a child who they think won't say no? Between teachers and daycares, I'm scared to even have children.

Give me a break... 14-year olds know what is right and wrong, and SHOULD be held accountable for their actions in these cases. They did not report the conduct, therefore they are accomplices. At 14, I knew what was inappropriate conduct. So did they.

Not to indicate that this is the case with all teachers but, many teachers suffer from a well-known syndrome that is the result of a lack of association with a broad-range of adults in society. Teachers are nothing but students who have graduated and then immediately start teaching students that they only shortly before were. Then, they teach the same age group year after year--a group of people, who in their minds, never get any older. This atmosphere can lead some teachers to associate mentally more closely with children than a person in a career field that is dominated by adults. I have thought for a long time that more study should be done about this problem as a way of reducing unwanted interactions between teachers and students. These interactions occur too often in the teaching profession to be considered random.

Why is it that almost any kind of evil can be called a "syndrome"? Is it because the sicko person is a model citizen except for being a perv and calling their crime a symdrome sofens it? Ask the vicitims of these crimes and see what they think you should call it.

Sdh hit the nail right on the head. These girls are 14 and know the difference. If it wasn't the teacher they would text with, it would be some boy, or another man. All they want is someone in their pants. Why do you see so many pregnant little girls?

These girls knew what they were doing. I think this type of thing would stop happening if charges were brought against the kids and not just the teachers. They know what they're doing.

I think both parties are wrong in this situation. The teacher just because of the age difference. I think there is something mentally wrong with a person if you mess with someone that young. The girls are not that much better. At 14 you know enough and they know its not appropriate for them to be messing with older men. I agree with some of the other people that these girls should be punished to. It doesnt say anywhere that they where forced to do anything. How did the teacher get the childs cell number if the child didnt give it to him? He should be fired but should not have to spend any jail time. These girls parents should take some time with them and help them through their issuses to figure out why they are trying to get the attention of a grown male.

its just wrong that teachers abuse their position to do such depraved things. teachers really need to keep their sexual urges in check. the law is a joke when it comes to asking if kids consented or not. no one under the age of (age of consent in the state you live in) should be held accountable.

I'm not excusing this teacher at all and think that he should be held accountable for what he did. I just think that there should be more counseling and scrutiny of teachers regarding this issue because it is happening all too often and some preventive action should take place to lessen these teacher/student liasions.

Parents aren't doing their jobs.

Some young girls are like that because they never had guidance in the first place. These young girls are replacing sex for an emotion they are probably not getting at home, love and affection. They may understand the ins and outs of sex, but they do not understand it on an adult level. That's why there are so many young mothers. If they thought as an adult, they would protect themselves from disease and pregnancy If a student approaches a teacher inappropriatly, then the teacher should guide them in the right direction. Also as an adult you know the law. Your defense in court can't be, "Your honor I knew she was 14, but she been trying to give it to me since she was 12." Parents need to be held accountable, no child can completely hide all the signs of being sexually active. You have to take the time out to pay attention. I have daughters and I am in their business and their friends business on a daily basis. Most people won't take the time out to instruct a child they see heading down the wrong path. If it's not theirs they do not have the time. I challenge everyone to speak out when they see a child dressing inappropriatly, drinking, or doing things a child shouldn't be doing at a young age. It takes a village to raise a child and we are failing if we can't get a teacher to simply uphold the law. They are simply taking advantage of the children who need the most help. Then we sit back and blame the child. They know too much because there is no one truly there for them.

Just because you knew what was inappropriate at 14 does NOT mean all 14-year-olds have the same sense of maturaty. Everyone is different. Just because I'm the same age as someone does not mean I'm in the same stage of life. Think about it.

As I recall, when I was 14'ish, the girls were interested in guys their same age or a little older. Yes, some of the girls just loved their teachers but, in an innocent way. I never had a teacher in those years that capitalized on the attention of a girl student who played-up to them. I guess that in those days the teachers knew better. I really think that the responsibility rests with the teachers and not with the immature student when it comes to advances of a sexual nature.

all i have to say it children are gross, if you breeders wouldnt have little girls we would not have to talk about this , give the earth a break , shoot yourself.
