I am very unhappy with the "new look" of the tobacco warehouse. I am okay with the town hall, police dept., etc. moving into the warehouse and using it. My issue is the fact that they have now defaced the look of an historic building in our town. Why did they have to do that? You can actually renovate an old building to be functional for current day and keep the look of the original structure. I am very saddened to go past the building now. Why did this have to be done?

Defaced how did they deface? They took out stairs that were in violation of code, tore down a steel building, and removed ramps. The renovation has not even started and your not happy why not wait a little before making such a stupid comment.

Your an idiot! The stair were in violation, yes. Are they planning on rebuilding them, NO! If you have lived here as long as I have you have fond memories of them steps. Sitting with dad, hanging out with friends, and I remember how it was a gathering place for town folk. Times should change, but you should always remember where you came from. It defines who you are and who you will be. Did they get with the historic society and ensure the were keeping it as close as to it was when it was first built. I hear they plan on using bricks to cover it. Where are the bricks coming from? I know David Wilson owns a bricking company. Are we buying them from him? Or is a friend supplying them? Why change our history, restore it back to it's original status. I like the idea of it becoming a town hall.

NO you have proved the fact you are the idiot!!!! I lived here just as long and played on the steps as a kid. I guess you would like the old potatoe sheds back because you rode your bike up and down the ramp as a kid. Get a clue things don't stay the same and just because the steps came down it is not a bad thing. Also your comment about David Wilson, who I never mentioned, just goes to show you have a bias about David Wilson not what is being done at the warehouse. Oh, by the way David Wilson does not own a brick company he lays block and brick big difference. Your comments like so many hold are not valid because you can't get your facts straight.

I don't care who steps up and tells it like is about the mayor. For a man that professes to be such a Christian, he sure is a master of the lie, half-truth and cover-up. He has a lot of people fooled by his sugary surface but never look into his soul, you will find a black hole. There is a quote by Abraham Lincoln that says; "You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

that has nothing to do with the tobacco warehouse. at least they aren't bulldozing it. they are making it a major part of the town, so that all of those good memories can be preserved.

LOL....another topixs hijacked by the Wilson haters. When will you learn that it just makes you look foolish. Stay on the topic of the warehouse and look past David Wilson this is a good thing for the town and if people could just think about that everything would be so much better. The Warehouse is good for the history and growth of the town and kids splash park is good for the kids and the town. It is not about fooling the people it is about improving the town so that more people can enjoy all the great things that Summerdale has to offer. The Wilson haters need to learn that you don't snub something good because you dislike the man. Heres a quote "Don't cut off your nose to spite your Face."

Learn to read "step up", I said Bricking not brick. Which means laying brick not make brick. I am not a Wilson hater. However, There should only be a two term limit on Mayor and all Council Members. That keeps the town growing and keeps one FAMILY from deciding our towns fate based on what they want or say we want. Picture Bush in office for 12 years! Just my thought. Furthermore, I am happy they are going to use the warehouse as town hall. However, why not rebuild the step to keep it's historic look? Why re brick the whole thing? Replace the windows, repaint and fix what needs to be fixed. You're calling people stupid because they have their own views. That makes you look like an idiot. Myself being an idiot, well, never said I was a genius! Splash part is going to be nice. This country was built on ideas, vision, and diversity. Freedom of speech and freedom to make one self heard! One last thing, If Wilson is such a Christian, why did he put campaign signs at a cemetery? Lost respect for him with that move!

Ok, for one, David Wilson owns a "masonry" company. He does not own ANY brick or block. He buys his materials just like you and me, so to suggest that HE or anyone else would be "supplying" them is ludicrous! On that same note, he RARELY even lays BRICK anymore anyway. His main concentration has been strictly on laying BLOCK for the past several years.(Bricks are simply too small, it takes too many and too long.) So before you go assuming that he would be the "brick" mason, think again!
And as for his sign in the cemetary, O PLEASE! C'mon! Like HE actually PUT it there?! That is ridiculous! Someone who is either his rival or has something against him OBVIOUSLY picked up a sign of his and MOVED it there!
And besides, even IF for some reason he DID choose to put it near or within the same vicinity of the cemetary, how does THAT make him 'non-Christian'?! Get a life!

obviously you have not looked at the warehouse lately the place needs a total overhaul not just a little paint and fixing up. Also the steps are not the historical focal point of the building. Also by bricking it saves on maintence of the building for the future tax payers of Summerdale because it would have to be painted every couple of years and that would be a major expense to get a company to paint a 3 story 30,000 square foot building. I also can't believe you about not being a Wilson-Giles hater because you prove it everytime you write because you mention the "Family".

Be careful what you write about "THE FAMILY" because "THE FAMILY" might take offense and you do not want to offend "THE FAMILY" because they will take retribution on you. Just ask Charlie who has a barber shop in Summerdale. Charlie made the mistake of putting a sign for the Mayor's opponent in his shop window. That was an offense to "THE FAMILY" and required a visit from the patriarch of "THE FAMILY", the Mayor, as well as the Mayor's sons and his sister. Needless to say that after being told that his business would be ruined if the sign was not removed, Charlie had no choice by to take down the sign. You see Charlie has been fighting cancer for two years and does not have the financial resources to stand up to "THE FAMILY". The barber shop is his sole income and he cannot afford to lose his livelihood. "THE FAMILY" takes care of it's own.

My parents and grandparents were born and raised in Summerdale and i think it is a shame to see this town the way it is now. People fussing and fighting over this election. I do agree that the tobacco warehouse should be restored to its orginal look. And it relly disheartened me to drive by and see the steps were gone. Talk about a code violation. That could have been overturned considering the historical aspect of it. step up wants to call people "idiot" well call me one too, but i am going to say you have no respect or loyalty to this town. you say you grew up here and all-- well you might have but you obviously have no heritage to hold on to, which is really sad. God Help You. i am not running for coucil or any of that but i will bw voting all of the new candidates in-- and a far as the "FAMILY" goes, you all have a real authority problem. It should take you threatening a small business owner in summerdale just so you can feel impowered. that is so pathetic. Being the mayor and council members does not mean you do it your way or no way, it means you listen and hear the town people and come up with a plan that pleases everyone-- i possible, atleast try... that has npt been done in years.

I believe this should have to be explained by the "family" in a public forum in the middle of downtown Summerdale ASAP or better yet in a political debate...how about that??? Do you think that could be explained in a matter of minutes by the incumbents?

I believe this should be addressed at the next Town Council meeting in some way...with the TV stations and reporters present. Some people don't have computers to see this info so this must be reported to the Citizens of Summerdale in other ways.

That is the great thing about Topix people can come on and spout off about anything. You are clue less. There is no way that a plan can be made to please everyone. In fact I have family that were born and raised in Summerdale as well and they see no problem with the steps they are taking the Intelligent view of wait and see what the warehouse will look like when it is finished. In fact some of the new people running want the to build a metal building somewhere instead of remodeling the warehouse. The main thing I read is that people are not informed about changes. But, from my experience they are to lazy to go and ask questions and get the information they would rather listen to the rumors that float around and then get on Topix and run there mouth.

yes i know that some of the new people running want to build else where and not remodel. IT IS A HISTORICAL LANDMARK!!! i would rather see it restored or refurbished to the way it was and i know plenty of folks that want the same thing. like i said before, you must not have any repect or loyalty to things of heritage and historical value. you must be part of the "family" as well. i would be willing to bet that not everyone in summerdale was mailed literature of the changes, because you know that some people can't go to meetings, or aren't physically able to go. this is all about power. why are they in such a hurry to do something with it. it isn't fair and it isn't right. you may think we are all IDIOTS but we know the truth about who you are - what kind of person you are and the bottom line is you can't stand that people are against you and the "FAMILY"...

I,m sure your right about that. I haven't lived here long but I never heard about any of this until after the whole mess weas started. I was told the building was going to be "redone" I thought that meant refurbished in laymans terms but I guess not. Maybe they(The Family) don't know the difference in refurbish/restore and remodel. Maybe a large dictionary needs to be sent to Town Hall.
