Your views: UTEP parking a bad situation

Full story: El Paso Times

I attempted to attend the UTEP basketball exhibition game. I loaded up the family, stopped at the ATM to make sure I had enough cash and headed across town to the Don Haskins Center.

From the second letter:

"I'm obviously *subjected* to my own opinion, just like everybody else....

Jeremy Carnero

-----

Does your opinion oppress you? Do you feel it is unreasonably burdensome or that you should otherwise not have to suffer it? What exactly are you trying to express Mr. Carnero?

If you intended to write that the rest of us should not have been *subjected* to your opinion, I completely agree.

There's more than just water on the Moon!

All lunar programs were shut down 30 years ago because of the fear to encounter extraterrestrial beings and their immense power. Both the USSR and the USA realized that their presence on the Moon was not desirable at all.

Milton Cooper a Naval Intelligence Officer tell us that not only does the Alien Moon Base exist but the U.S. Naval Intelligence Community refers to the Alien Moon Base as "Luna", that there is a huge mining operation going on there, and that is where the Aliens keep their huge mother ships while the trips to Earth are made in smaller "flying saucers".

Regarding UTEP parking: one would think that UTEP athletics would be bending over backwards to accommodate anyone wishing to attend an event especially considering how bad their football program is and how it isn't exactly the robust money maker the university would like. I am disappointed to read that it is so difficult to get a parking spot on game day but thanks for the heads up. In solidarity, I think I'll join you and stay home, too.

UTEP Parking- I think the problem is that yellow jacket company. They act like the gestapo. They are ridiculous.

Regarding UTEP athletics, by your own admission, you only have yourself to blame:
1. Show up on time.
2. Don't be afraid to walk a few blocks.

(Concerning the letter about UTEP parking)

I'm sure the Miners will miss your business, but you forget they're pretty much the biggest sports team in El Paso besides the basketball team, so if you want to have SOMETHING to do in this town during the fall then you will just have to deal with CSC.

Now its not really UTEP's fault, CSC is an independent contractor hired by UTEP. UTEP does this because it is cheaper than having their own hired security because they usually charge the promoter of the event. Of course for games UTEP takes the bill, but for concerts and special events, the promoter or performer pay for the security. This is also another reason why a lot of concerts go to Las Cruces (they hire their own security and do not outsource).

Now to solve your problem, in the four years I attended UTEP I never had a problem with parking because I showed up early. My friends always did and that's because they arrived 10 min before kick off. So stop being a typical El Pasoan and arrive early! IF NOT THEN DON'T COMPLAIN!!!

Amen!

Tipoff is 7:00 PM, and people come trickling in at 7:15 PM, expecting me to accommodate them by having to get up off my seat so that they can pass. Typical El Paso mentality.

As for parking, everyone and their mother believes they have a right to park as close to the venue as possible. There's a reason why some of us pay money for season tickets, and reserved parking is one of them.

Stay home next time!

UTEP should provide a shuttle service for the fans. Let the ones who want to walk enjoy the walk. The handicap parking should be a priority. UTEP provides only golf carts and long waits.

Mr. Boyette, I'm not sure where you were looking for a parking space at the UTEP basketball game but there had to be plenty of parking because, sadly, the Don Haskins Center was nowhere close to being even half full. Don't count on parking up close unless you are willing to donate large sums to the University. So put on some walking shoes, find parking and come enjoy great Miner basketball. This years team is full of talent! See you at the games.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Taurus

If you've been neglecting that special someone in your life over the past few days because you've been so busy with the festivities, try to make up for it today. Maybe you could have some time alone with them, or perhaps you simply need to remind them how much you love them. Don't be afraid to open up your heart to them, and to let them do the same to you.
