The question raised regarding children having an underlying condition prior to becoming sick with swine flu is missing the point.
Having provided daycare and foster care for more than 12 years in King and Snohomish counties, I can
testify as to how quickly unchecked infectious illnesses spread. Parents drop children off at daycare, sick or not. Parents send their kids to school, sick or not. Parents are driven by the dollar rather than protecting their (and other parents') children.
Measles, mumps amd whooping cough are not coming back into the public's backyard by magic. Parents who do not have their children innoculated risk their children's health. It's as plain as that.
This flu kills. Children, underlying conditions or not, are dying. We as parents are our children's safe keepers. DON'T TAKE THE CHANCE YOUR CHILD MAY NOT GET SICK. HOW WILL YOU FEEL WHEN YOUR CHILD GETS HOSPITALIZED FROM THIS FLU? GOD FORBID, THE WORST HAPPENS AND YOUR CHILD DIES.
SHAME ON ANY PARENT FOR NOT PROTECTING THEIR CHILDREN.
