Thanks for all of the good advice. I'm on the fence about Bradford Pointe- gangsters don't scare me - but the bugs and the Jerry Springer action that comes with the drug dealers does. But financially it is a great deal. I'm looking at a house on 1400 block of Taylor - next week-end coming down there to check it all out. I need to impress my 12 year old daughter - she's not wanting to move - is there a cool mall somewhere that maybe Justin Bieber might be hanging out...???

I would challenge you to look at the arbors at eastland. They are income based. Have a really nice clubhouse. A pool and are far away from any drama you'll find in the hood.

That spot on Taylor may be better than Bradford, still not a great area though. The person above me is right. Check out the arbors. Have to have less than 30k or so a year income, but they're nice.

I've lived In Bradford Pointe for 3in a half years I have two small daughters and I've never had a problem with anyone its not the best but its affordable I've never had a bug problem either so my guess they apartment must be nasty. My advice is to just come check it out yourself and another thing maintenance people has always done what they were suppose to do when I called.

I would look at the smaller apartment complexes in Evansville. Like drive around in an area you're interested in and write down phone numbers of the places you like. I found a really nice (and cheap) place that way. It's on the "Southeast" side of town (Covert & Boeke area) but the surrounding neighborhood looks really nice. We drove by at night (multiple times) and didn't see anything strange and the area was quiet with not many annoying kids.

I kno quite a few people that live at bradford pointe and I've stayed wit someone for a couple months and I WOULD NOT recommend it at all...one night I woke up to shots being fired at the building behind me....fights all the time...too much drama for me. It is affordable but me being a mother I would rather pay more and work harder then put my children in harm...its not worth it. I would check out income based but there's a waiting list....anything on the west side is good...woodland park HELL NO.....apts are nice but its TRASHY...village green...eden east...carriage house...hornbrook estates...arbors of eastland...shannon glenn...wud be some I wud live in:-) hope this helps

Well, I'm am officially an Evansvillian! I chose Woodland Park Apartments - utilities paid - very cute apartments - all the tenants seem like decent hard working people - plenty of children here and there - park across the street with a pool - and 5 minutes from my office. The outside of the building and hallways aren't glamorous - but the inside of my apartment is nice. Thanks for all of the advice!

LAanonymous wrote: Dang - that is what I was afraid of - such a cute house - on google maps street view the neighborhood doesn't look that bad - it seems like a busy street - do the crack heads climb in windows and steal air conditioners, bikes, cars, etc...how bad is it? Will I get shot walking to the bus stop - I'm not planning on ripping off any drug dealers - maybe I should look further North? The North side isnt that much better. Stay far away from the South side, pretty much stay east of 41. Westside is snooty and expensive, North side is full of Jimtown hoodrats, until u get towards central its not too bad. Bradford pointe, first thing i think of is that it is drug dealer central and ghetto as hell. East side is where its at.

Bradford point may have been better... Don't let your daughter out of the house alone.... Lived in that area for 30 years.. It's better than it used to be but still not great!
