Are you kidding me? This moron stole from the taxpayers. Sold old police cars (undercover cars) to a car dealership in south Lake county and then turned around and PERSONALLY bought the cars. A clear and obvious attempt to "wash" the titles of the cars, to cover up his shady purchases. Kurrupt needs to continue his EARLY forced retirement. How could a man of no integrity, subject his family to beating he is going to take from the news media. Everything this clown gets he deserves! Also how about the numerous surplus military items that still have not been found. How about The generator that Channel 9 found in Tennessee that belonged to the Sheriffs Office. If the citizens of Lake County vote this convicted felon back in office, then they deserve what they get! I hope the residents of Lake County have a better judge of character than to give this criminal the keys to the Sheriffs Office.

Hey Orando Sentinel.. why did it take you so long to report this story. The little North Lake Outpost reported it last week. Too bad that former Sheriff Knupp has thrown his name back into the ring. Lake County Sheriff's Office needs strong leadership after everything they have been through in the last 4 years.

Now we have a former sheriff who was fired for lying to a Grand Jury (but he was only "less than fully accurate") who wants his job back??!?!

Who will be charged with authenticating the signatures? Who would contribute to his campaign?

Maybe George can get with that other fat crook who runs the Orange county sheriffs department and really bring back the stereo type southern police.

I don't know about the little voices in his head, but you are spot on about the size of his ego. I was an employee of Lake County Sheriff's Office for 17 years (the last 12 during the Knupp reign). He was just another in a line of "good ole boy" sheriffs. Yes he did a lot to modernize and upgrade the department and equipment, but unless you were kissing his a**, you didn't get very far in his administration. Just like most if not all politicians, he had to pay back favors by bringing in some of his cronies from Orange County, where he was with the department, and others. He didn't just give them a job with L.C.S.O., he brought them in at rank such as sergeant, captain and even jail administator. He hired Chris Daniels and continued to promote him to the rank of Major, all the while grooming him to be sheriff. As far as his lying to the Grand Jury, it was just that LYING. By the way the car dealership was a local Eustis Chevrolet dealership that just happened to be where his son-in-law works and is the dealership's owner's son. You know the one where the only thing you'll like better than their prices is the buyng experience itself.
I have a close friend who is retired from the FBI tell me that it was his experience in law enforcement that made him come to believe that once a crook, always a crook. Knupp certainly fills that bill, but he is so wrapped up in himself that he thinks a simple apology should clear the slate. How can you trust a man who says he will not run for sheriff again and then prefile only three years after being removed from office. All his legal manuevering and "accepting a deal" of forfeting his law enforcement certification just laid the groundwork for this bombshell. He knows he doesn't have to be certified to be sheriff. The sad part about this is that it would not surprise me in the least if not only is he able to get on the ballot, but he will probably win.

North Lake Outpost uses the old boy network to get their stories, at least all the stories I've seen. I've yet to see them publish anything by a Democrat or that is against one of their friends.

With Knupp's pre-file, it all smells of a scam to me. If Knupp gets backed by the local Republican Party, I may have to give up my status as a Republican. It's hard to say the Democrats are wrong, when the Republicans are running unchecked like this.

George CORRUPT is a liar and a felon. Too bad he's such a "good ol' boy" that he'll probably be on the ballot, I pray Lake Co voters have enough sense to vote for ANYONE but him. Anyone who does vote for him is aiding a felon and deserves whatever they get from it. He lied and cheated his citizens once...you think he won't do it again?

which is believed to have pocketed millions of tax payers money and still be in power, anything can happen.
