Is it breed, or is my dog reincarnated?
COMMENTARY - Lakefront
By Lauren Ritchie, Sentinel Columnist
April 25, 2008

I must be living wrong. Hank has returned to haunt me.
That destructive, mischievous Australian shepherd mutt died a year ago at the age of 14, and I recently acquired another Aussie -- a shepherd puppy with a blue merle coat similar to Hank's.
Just as a reality check, I e-mailed Sheriff Gary Borders to see whether his well-fed, indolent retriever Amos had ever pulled crazy puppy stunts. Amos became my personal measuring stick for evaluating canine capers after he lost his mind a few years ago and barged into a neighbor's home during a thunderstorm, where he ducked under a bed and refused to come out. Amos does not like storms. Amos does not like effort of any sort, so it must have been bad to prompt action on his part.
Turns out that the ol' fellow, who sneers in the morning until he receives his Milk-Bone, once slipped into the sheriff's pool. Apparently, he had not gotten the memo about how much retrievers love water.
"He did swim his way out -- or should I say he floated his way to the steps," Borders reported.
Not surprising. Amos is rather a buoyant boy. Must be the abundant Milk-Bones. The sheriff says Amos never has gone back in the pool.
So there you have it. Just when I thought my life with dogs would settle down. Someone please tell me that Lola is just going through an exploration-and-adventure stage. Keep telling me that, over and over. Ignore the pained moaning.

No wonder Lauren Ritchie does political attacks on the sheriff’s opponent she is obviously old friends with him.

After reading the headline and first page of the article, I thought it was going to say that Carpenter did not live in Lake County. Then the article ends with Carpenter being a handyman and owning 30 acres in Howey in the Hills. Why him making improvements on his barn is even news is shocking. This is America, ones home is suppose to be his castle. We have a Sheriff living an alternative lifestyle with young male employees that he supervises and she refuses to write about it. Handyman vs. current Sheriff gives us one more reason to vote for Carpenter.
Seems supporters of the current sheriff think this handywork of the sheriff's friend is something great. If this is all they can come up with after months of searching I'd say he's about the most honest lawman around here. Try and put the current sheriff on the wittness stand, the first smart lawyer that asks him if he;s gay he's going to lie, he always has. Funny thing is his little boy friend Scottie Stone don't lie about it. He told all his neighbors he was gay and even told them the old white headed man that comes around is his boyfriend.

If Borders fairy brigade and worthless human supporters think this is serious just wait until Mark Nejame has his media release at the murder by cop scene tommorow at 3 PM. That will be a feeding frenzy because its going to cost us taxpayers multi-millons in legal fees and settlements. Settling an accidental death law suit is one thing when Nejame proves this murder by cop was a conspiracy by law enforcement to show someone what they do to people who screw with their lieutenant Scoop Jackson's son and the effort backfired and caused the death of an innocent man only because of their fit of rage.

It's bad enough that Sheriff Borders has no clue what's going on in his own department, but it's worse that he allows his Chief Deputy, and his Captains to go skirt chasing on the counties dime. Both of these men have been caught numerous times having affairs with sheriffs employees. Sworn and civilian alike they chase all of them. Then on top of it all his health services adminstrator is one of his ex-lovers, that is the only reason he was given that position. Now to read in the Sentinel he is thinking of out sourceing medical service to cut down on the budget. Just remember one thing Sheriff, the lowest bidder usually gets the contract, and the first time an inmate dies from inadequete medical care the settlement is gonna be through the roof. Good luck Captain Carpenter.

Borders will just find his old licker Kevin Lenhart another job closer to him. The Mike Green jail death will cost us millions. He was long dead before lying John Herrell said they took him beofre Judge Baxley to get ROR. Herrell even called him a former jail inmate hoping they could lie and make it look like he died after he got out of jail.

Conner and McKee taught dummie Borders about all this outsource everything. Lowest bidder don't get chet in Tavares. Highest bidder gets the deal and gives them a big fat kickback. Contractors, insurance peopl andbody that gets a job from these criminals has to pay to play!

SEEMS SHE FORGOT ALL HER "RULES" FROM 2008 WHEN SHE WAS TRYING TO HALT THE BREAKING NEWS OF HER FRIEND "THE SHERIFF" BEING GAY

Lake sheriff race showcases campaigning guidelines
By Lauren Ritchie, Sentinel Columnist, June 15, 2008

As the political season opens, all candidates should remember important common-sense rules to get them -- and voters -- though the season. Here's Lauren's List to keep campaigns clean and focused: 1. Act honorably by your opponent. Don't jump to conclusions that can't be proved. 2. Don't lie. But if caught, don't lie about lying. 3. Shun whisper campaigns -- they're cowardly. 4. Stick to the issues. Focus on the qualifications and record of the opponent, not on personalities. Already, some of the rules are being broken.

Just wondering where all of Sheriff Borders endorsements are this time? I mean we are down to one week and early voting has been going on since Saturday.

Four years ago Borders had the endorsement of almost every elected official In Lake County. This year on his keep Borders sheriff website he is boasting one endorsement. The Police Benevolent Association. YEP! Border is endorsed by the PBA, the very police union that has partnered with the SEIU and other unions to sue the taxpayers of Florida over the State Retirement System ‘s requirement that employee’s must fund 3% of their own retirement contributions.

No real people have endorsed Borders. Many of his employee’s some of which has given him the maximum in funds don’t really support him. Lieutenant Scoop Jackson gave him $500. Bucks but he didn’t show at the Hob Nob probably for obvious reasons since it was his kid that started the chain of events that killed an innocent man.

BUT, Where is all those same people who endorsed him four years ago? Brad King? You can’t say King is not endorsing Sheriff’ Candidates; he has publicly endorsed Dan Kuhn for Sheriff of Marion County.

Bob McKee, Jimmy Conner, Sean Parks, Jennifer Hill, Leslie Campione, Skipper Babb, some of the present Board of County Commissioners were not there in 2008 but they have had their noses right up Borders butt since the got there! Jimmy Conner was the School Board Chairman when he was emailing Governor Bush to get him to appoint Borders.

Some people get the feeling that Lake’s courthouse mafia might not catch as much heat without the sickness and perversion; who knows maybe some of them feel the same way. A lot of them sure as hell been laying low lately.

These people are not going to publicly endorse Borders these time. They know his time is up and that he is on his way out the door. They are gonna wait and see if enough people can be fooled into electing Borders again and then be there at his victory party slapping him on the back. Good luck Captain Carpenter.

Channel 9 done an excellent story on this shooting of Andrew Lee Scott. This murder by cop will cost us taxpayers millions of dollars. The people of of Lake County elected a jailer for a sheriff, they got what they elected a jailer and not a law man. Now in the worst economy we have seen here in Lake County this jaier will cost us millions and go back to Ashland, Kentucky with a big fat retirement check and leave us to pay for his mistakes. I for one hope he will take some of his sick ass friends with him.

My family and I chose to vote for the Carpenter who built his barn without a permit. Not the man who does not supervise his people. My brother in law told me tonight the deputy who murdered this youn gman has been back to work for a week. Maybe going bacl to work after the other shooting was too mush for him but it is we the taxpayers that will have to pay for this not the once who done it.

The question should be asked?Where was the dog? What are taxpayers of Lake county paying for?Aren't the dogs trained to track criminals?

The great lying John Herrell addressed the question about the dog by saying K-9's were trained for all different purposes and not just tracking. As usual he lied all around the question and failed to tell the truth. The truth is Sylvester's dog was multi-trained and is in fact a tracker. If Richard Sylvester hadn't been in such a hurry to score brownie points with Lieutenat Gregory "Scoop" Jackson by taking down the man that whooped up his son "Justin Jackson" he should have done a lot of things like, run the MC tag and put the dog out to track the dude that parked the MC. Now they are saying the door was only cracked about 3 inches when Sylvester filled it full of bullet holes. It's a wonder he misses Drew's girlfriend.
