What can you do to ensure a public option?

Using your GM example... GM makes a car and sells it for $15,000... that costs $5,000 to make... the government offers the same car at $10,000... What happens to GM? They lower their prices to compete, but they will still make a profit, because their product was marked up ridiculously high. That's more like what we are seeing here with the insurance companies. They are taking advantage of a monopolistic system.

What free health care? I work two jobs now, and have no coverage. 80% of America is not happy with their coverage, because 65% support the public option. The public option would not eliminate private plans, it would force them to compete in the market place instead of continuing to exploit the current situation.

I'm not adverse to the idea of creating an option that would allow people to buy in to Medicare. It seems to work for people, and it is already up and running.

Regardless of what alternatives we provide, there has to be another option, or the insurance industry will continue to sentence people to death for profit.

I said I am not adverse to that idea!

Once again, having a public option would not eliminate the private system, it would force it to be more competitve. Competition is what makes capitalism work.

Uhhh, right now he is not pitching the Olympics, he is in a meeting with the Joint Chiefs and other regarding Afganistan.

The private insurance companies will not sell a product that loses money. They make plenty of money, and they will continue to. If they hadn't been so greedy we wouldn't need reform.

I wouldn't pay double for the same product. I also don't believe I should pay anything for a product that will never be delivered.
