The fact is that many people will keep their private insurance, but the insurance companies will make a little less. Oh gee, that's too bad. You are comparing apples to oranges. The universities have varying degree of quality. If the government cloned the best private university and offered the exact same school at a lower cost they would close the private one. But they did not do that did they. But with the public option you will go to the same hospital get the exact same care for less. Tell what fool would refuse this scenario. I will give you an insurance policy that is as good as or better than what you have now for less money?? Are you telling me that the post office will take my truck load of pallet from Ukiah and ship it here to Puerto Vallarta? Again you are comparing apples to oranges Tell me why would anyone keep paying a higher price for the same product?? You don’t understand how the public option will work…………. Answer one question please If you GM dealer had a car for ten dollars and you could buy the same exact car from the government for seven dollars how long would GM last?

If the insurance companies had to compete, then they would have to reign in their exploitive prices and unethical practices. I can't see why anyone would support the insurance industry's current practice of denying people care and killing them. Talk about death panels... they are called insurance plan administators. You do not have a clue what you are talking about. How is giving you free health care a windfall for the insurance companies???? Answer it??? What is wrong with combining Medical and Medicare into the VA and other government run hospitals? And what would be wrong with allowing people like you to use it for free? Or people that had a job could use it at a cost only basis? And let the 80% of America that is happy with are health care alone………… How is free health care for you not good enough for you??????????

GM makes a car and sells it for $15,000... that costs $5,000 to make... the government offers the same car at $10,000... What happens to GM? They lower their prices to compete, but they will still make a profit, because their product was marked up ridiculously high. That's more like what we are seeing here with the insurance companies. They are taking advantage of a monopolistic system.

What free health care? I work two jobs now, and have no coverage. 80% of America is not happy with their coverage, because 65% support the public option. The public option would not eliminate private plans, it would force them to compete in the market place instead of continuing to exploit the current situation. I'm not adverse to the idea of creating an option that would allow people to buy in to Medicare. It seems to work for people, and it is already up and running. Regardless of what alternatives we provide, there has to be another option, or the insurance industry will continue to sentence people to death for profit.

Insurance companies profit less than 10% per year. Google it………. Go to the shareholder sites. Most pay put more than 85% to health care for what they take in. Google it and see……… So is the government insurance going to 10 to 15 % less than the private insurance? And that is the big savings you are looking for? No the government insurance will be close to half of the private according to the late Kennedy. Please answer two questions So how is the private insurance going to sell a product and lose money? Why would anyone pay double for the same product?

The public option is history. Move on. What if's are driving me nuts. the gov't can't run anything right let alone to make a profit. How in the hell do you think they can run our healthcare without it costing all of us more? We are just starting to be heard regarding what the MAJORITY of the country wants and that is NO public option. Check out the polls before you start pitching your own crap. Obama is still in campaign mode, and doing a terrible job. I'm pissed at myself for voting for the damn fraud that he is. The economy is in the toilet, the banks are still going belly up, nobody can get credit that they need, and he's over in Denmark pitching for the Olympics? Are you kidding me? I think there are much more needed responsibilities to be handled here instead of pushing his Chicago politics worldwide. First time in my life i've ever been ashamed of my president. He and all the rest of these crooked politicians on both sides need to go straight to hell.

If they hadn't been so greedy we wouldn't need reform. I wouldn't pay double for the same product. I also don't believe I should pay anything for a product that will never be delivered.

Here is one wrote: <quoted text> Insurance companies profit less than 10% per year. Google it………. I Googled it. Apparently, the major health "Insurers are measuring their profits against total health care spending. That's all the money you and I and employers and insurers and the government spend for doctors' visits, hospitalizations, drugs and other things. By using the total health care costs, their profits look lower. But many economists calculate insurance company profits differently. Just like for any other business, they look at what the companies take in — in this case in premiums — versus what they pay out directly, as in claims. Fortune magazine economists calculate insurance company profits this way: For the 10 biggest insurers in the year 2006 (the year the insurers used for the 1 cent out of every dollar depiction above), profits were anywhere from 2 to 10 percent, or two to 10 pennies on the dollar. That's two to 10 times as much as what the insurance industry group suggests in its illustrations. Here is one wrote: Go to the shareholder sites. Most pay put more than 85% to health care for what they take in. Google it and see……… Don't you think the insurance companies use 2 sets of books? One for the IRS and one for the shareholders? Of course they do - ALL corporations do. Do you trust a for-profit corporation to have your health in mind over profits? If you do, you have my condolences.
