Yes, the T-S totally sucks and they know it well and couldn't care less. However, the sports staff always covers many sports. Over the last year I have seen local coverage of these local sports of both college and high school, and even semi-pro men's, women's, girl's, and boy's (I missed some I know): soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, golf, rowing, baseball, softball, auto racing, roller derby, swimming, track & field, billiards, fencing, skateboarding, BMX racing, sailing, mountain bike racing, road bike racing, marathon running. For anyone to say something as utterly stupid like "they don't cover ______ sport" is absurd and is usually the utterance of a total a-hole hater with a major grudge against the paper. Of course they deserve many major grudges over the crap they've pulled in the last few years but hey, let's at least be real about the whole ugly mess that is the T-S.

There is no lowest level of embarrassment in Humboldt County. Your comment is proof of that. Stupid is as stupid does. I lived in Humboldt County for eight years. I now live in Portland and the level of IQ here is mountains higher than Humboldt. People here can read for comprehension and write learned English. WOW, what a waste of eight years.

I personally know Michele Bisgrove (Wuscher) and can tell you all that she is in no way the type of person you are making her out to be! She was (and still is an amazing athlete) just like her father who's a hall of famer at Mack high. She's Extremely caring and would give you the shirt off her back. She knows there are more important things in life which is why she participates in several local fundraising charities each year. She was simply trying to make a point...TS coverage of our local athletes is just not what it used to be! Well stated Michele!

Do us all a favor and STAY in your so-called intellectually superior Portland... However, your comments regarding "stupid is as stupid does" very much apply to YOU. It took you eight years to leave a (beautiful) place that you obviously hated. I would say that's a bit SLOW on your part....

So what bothered you the most - the fact that this athlete was only 15, that it pertained to GOLF, or that it was in reference to a GIRL?'Ever heard of Tiger Woods or Michelle Wei? You are obviously neither a one-time accomplished athlete, nor a caring parent. Otherwise, you might actually have a clue..(This has got to be one of those beer guzzling, foul mouthed, football, baseball, etc. fans that consider tennis, golf, and anything other than bone breaking sports to be for "sissies.")

I have to agree with the guy from Portland. I travel to Humboldt County from Portland for business reasons. I have observed there are many Humboldter's that are as stupid as the sheep they raise. To "Proud Humboldt Resident" you need to travel to Portland. But wait that wouldn't work for you. Baaaaa, Baaaaa

Actually I HAVE traveled extensively, both in the U.S.(yes, including your beloved Portland), Canada, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, etc. and I still believe our area to be one of the most beautiful. As for the intellectual aspect of the local population, you can find uneducated, or "stupid" as you put it, people just about anywhere if you're predisposed to being judgmental. Incidentally, your crass "Baaaa, Baaaa comment, which I assume was intended for a male, was neither brilliant nor funny. I happen to be FEMALE, Genius...

Obviously you are clueless! I'd pay money to watch this young girl make you eat your words after playing a round with her. Oh, what's wrong? Afraid of losing to a "15 year old girl"? Play the sport first. Then when you can shoot in the 70's, maybe we'll listen to your opinions but until then...save yourself the embarrassment and keep your sexist opinions to yourself.

Hollywood Mom!!!! Her kid is NOT a Wei.
She may "not be a Wei" but she just received a full merit golf scholarship to Dixie State (and had offers from some great colleges). Not bad for small town girl!

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Virgo

Life catches you unawares today but for once you don't really mind. A friend is likely to ring up with an exciting suggestion or you could receive a spur of the moment invitation that's too good to refuse. An interesting encounter is also on the cards, especially when you're brought together through unusual circumstances.
