I don't have the data source to back this up, but I'm pretty sure that since deli meat is legal and widely distributed, a lot more people consumed it than those who consumed raw milk. The more people consume, the higher the risk is that they will become ill.
Your math is wrong then. You need to look at the amount consumed versus incidences of infection. 512x more is really nothing when you look at the millions of TONS of deli meat consumed yearly versus a microscopic amount of that in raw milk illnesses. And not all the illnesses are exactly the same found in each either.

Thank you mmmmmmmmmmmilk for trying to educate people - too often people seem to have very strong opinions about something they have never researched for themselves. Yes, it is true, "legal" raw milk has much stricter inspection standards! I would love to be able to have the freedom on choice to buy raw milk if I want to! I have been looking for raw milk in the grocery stores here in Humboldt lately - it never occured to me that it was illegal to sell it here! I just thought we did not have the consumer demand. Milk is another food that is so processed that it is questionable whether or not the product on the store shelves is even good for you. My gawd, how wonderful would it be to have a glass of milk that taste like it did when grandpa drank his as a kid! Say yes to raw milk - I think I'm smart enought to make my own decisions! BTW - this comes from a multi-generational Humboldt girl who remembers drinking milk straight out of the tank in the milk barn. None of my family is in the dairy industry any longer and so I no longer have the opportunity, but none of us have died from drinking raw milk either!

Just raise your own cow and milk it. Stop whining, start milking, or buy it on the "black market" from a neighbor. People do all the time sell and buy raw milk in Humboldt County from neighbors that sell it.

I'm glad I don't live in Humboldt. You sound like an special bunch of folks. Anyone who wants the freedom to drink raw milk-delicious and safe raw milk- come to Fresno. I've been drinking it for years and my health has improved.

The opinion of milk from organic dairies being "cleaner" because they don't use antibiotics is an oxymoron. Does that mean hospitals would be
better if they didn't use antibiotics? Would it be better if when a young child got an ear infection, they were treated with a herbal concoction? Why do people think antibiotics are so horrible? Dairies that don't use them have sicker cows, not cleaner milk. I would never drink raw milk, but if I ever did it would be from a dairy that treated their sick cows properly.

nope:well one problem with antibiotics is how abused they are with big dairies. How about antibiotic resistant superbugs causing hazards to humans. Its the abuse causing the problems.
Did you know you have a candidia overgrowth as a human takes antibiotics just one time? Candidia can cause major problems.Ibelieve as a last resort to use antibiotics but there are ways to heal without drugs in humans like fasting and cleansing and changing diet.
I go to a non certified organic 13 cow dairy and he would never milk a sick cow for someone to drink.Cleanliness all depends on the farmer weather they are organic or not.Go to the farm and find out for yourself if they are dirty.
This farmer said he would treat a sick cow with antibiotics though because organic standards are rediculous because he would have to get rid of the cow he said if he had a sick cow.I dont know what antibiotics would do to the biodynamics of the good bacteria though within a sick cow once healed.I would think it would upset the chemistry of it.With every drug there is a flaw. There is no perfect drug.

Neither "Organic" nor antibiotic use have anything to do with the raw milk issue.
Did you people even read the article before commenting?

So you think that uninspected, unregulated, illegal, black market milk is better than inspected and approved California raw milk?

It is illegal to sell any unapproved milk in the state.
People do not do it all the time.
Allowing the sale of approved clean raw milk in Humboldt will not prevent those that still want black market milk, but will allow consumers to purchase inspected clean safe raw milk at the stores.

Isn't it better to give people the opportunity to purchase clean safe food?

I may be a Man but I love cow penises, if your good the cow can come in 10-18min. A Man takes only 5min, what a waste.
