Wayne Cox honored for Huntzinger case

Where was the DA investigative unit 18 years ago? This award was sought out. This whole charade in self agandizement should be an embarassment. This case should have been cracked 18 years ago.

In the70s we had a fine sherriff by the name of Gene Cox.Any relation to our Wayne Cox? Just wondering, since Ol" Gene was quite adept to pulling a rabbit out of the hat,himself, Maybe Wayne Cox is a chip off the ol" block.

Cox is a turd, dealt with him personally. No award could change that fact.

Could it be you doing the wrong thing at the wrong time that got his attention,or you could validate and clue us all in.

Well I think Cox is great! He picked up a case and solved it. Nice job!

Correction, Nash confessed once, and there was a confession from an aquaintance from over 10 years ago that wasn't followed up on.

Still, the investigation as a whole, seems shoddy.

The case belonged to the Blue Lake P.D.'s for all these years, it wasn't until the department was disbanded that Wayne Cox was able to access the case.

I've known Wayne for a long time and he was always helpful in my investigations. He is an investigator who pays attention and does an excellent job. Well done!

No relation to former (and deceased) Sheriff Gene Cox....and congrats to Wayne. Good police officer, good BNE agent, and now a good DA Investigator. Those who "dealt with him personally...." How was your stay in the County Jail? lol

Just wondering----people are posting that Wayne Cox is NO relation to former Sherriff Gene Cox--But the story DOES mention that he is the son of a former Humboldt County Sherriff Investigator---Was it Gene Cox or another Cox? just curious----

And---it does not seem appropriate for people to be criticizing Mr. Cox for not having solved the case earlier---it was not previously his position to do so---but when it was---he got the job done!!!

BTW---CONGRATULATIONS Wayne---you deserve recognition---I have been very impressed with your work out at the Dragstrip---It's a pleasant day when I hear a story that is telling of good news---and to see a leg of the law thinking outside of the box to solve community problems (street drags)---you seem to really care abuot your community beyond just doing your job!!! yes, it is all that time at humboldt bay coffee company and the donut shop before, during and after his shifts. He is ok, but a little or to much cocky.

I relly feel the need to point out that some YEARS ago the BLPD did try to push this thru to do EXCATLY what Cox did, but was TOLD by your DA NOT to go down that road......hmm wonder why that was?......And the FBI had interviewed the suspect YEARS ago and had the same confession, did the DA file then? NO, nothing has changed in the case the evedance was the same as before, and now SUDDENLT this COX is the hero? uhh... NO he is a jerk that STPPED the investigation by the BLPD years ago and then when they took over the PD seazed all the case hsitory BLPD had complied on it , the same evedance they said was not enough, and THEN he took the glory ?, he is a FRAUD ... and what is best , it can be PROVEN with the FBI this was asked for prosicution , YEARS ago, they interviewed Hash and got a confession......But now Cox is the hero.. not even maybe.......Fake, fraud, and Liar.......but thats how he works....kinda like the Boss he has the DA.....

You are not only misinformed, but you are an idiot.

Thank you Wayne Cox, you are a true police officer...you took your time and helped a poor family find the truth. You never gave up. I Know my mom would have done the same thing for any of us kids, but it takes someone like yourself to put it into actions. You make me proud and believe that there are good police out there its scary to be afraid of the police. you give them a good name. Now mabey that family can rest a bit. I did not know the kid, but it reminds me of so many things that don't get solved when they should just cause your poor, or don't have the right name. You are a hero.

Wayne, as a former co-employee...I am proud of you and know how hard you had to work to accomplish this. You are a credit to Humboldt County and I am so proud you received the accolades you did and so well deserved. Keep on pushing for justice. You are amazing! All our PD's need this.
