I like the way the TS buried this story online. And now all who have attended this protest are subjuct to surveillance by Homeland Security.
Homeland Security Dept and fusion centers were not created by Obama, but were created by Bush. To spot domestic terroists like Moslem extreamists. And while Obama may ultimately be responsible for suppressing third parties and anybody else whose thinking is out of line with the Marxist mainstream, it was Bush that started the program for our protection.
Even the ACLU has responded to some of these reports by saying that it crosses the line and shows a disregard for civil liberties. So dissidents on the left and dissidents on the right agree for once. But the government media complex seems to be just fine with the idea of sending you up the river if you support a third party or oppose gay marriage. They’re OK with putting you under surveillance if you have subversive literature. Or if you happen to support the wrong Republican member of Congress, your next vote may be your last.

Did you expect anything different from the T.S. when they buried this?
T.S. like the powerful NY Times, the A.P. and so many others are, as have been described numerous times, nothing but the propaganda arm of the Socialist - Democrat Party.
As for DHS, Dept of Homeland Security... Once condemned by these Leftist that run everything, now... They will use it on their own people to oppress them Time for Watch Lists Posts like this might even earn you a spot.
Did you expect anything less from the LEFT?

Good deal. I wonder why the story is buried? If this were a protest for dead crazy ladies it would have been the lead story.

Bull Mouse, what was fringy? We do not live in a left wing/progressive country. The stuff that Congress is doing, some of it at the behest of the Obama, is wrong. It makes what occurred during the 4 years of rep house look rational. And it wasn't.

What about our war on terrorism? Here's the DHS actual wording, dispute it if you can:
"Let me be very clear: we monitor the risks of violent extremism taking root here in the United States. We don’t have the luxury of focusing our efforts on one group; we must protect the country from terrorism whether foreign or homegrown, and regardless of the ideology that motivates its violence.
We are on the lookout for criminal and terrorist activity but we do not – nor will we ever – monitor ideology or political beliefs. We take seriously our responsibility to protect the civil rights and liberties of the American people, including subjecting our activities to rigorous oversight from numerous internal and external sources."

Yeah but when Bush started the program it was to find terrorists that would do harm to US Citizens. I doubt Cindy Sheehan made it to a watch list even though she was a leftist loon, but as for regular people, whom some on the extreme left would call the extreme right, the second the left gets in office they abuse the power and use it for their own selfish socialist gain. Even Bush restricted it to monitoring calls that were made from inside the country to an outside number that was on a watch list. They were open about it to Democrats too. Democrat senators knew of the program before it went online. But the NY Times blew the story to help warn their terrorist friends not to communicate that way so then only got a few terrorist cells in Buffalo and Jersey. The ACLU may have said that but I doubt it... their socialist masters would not let them act on it even if they did. I agree about our next vote... If we vote Obama in again by that time he may reorganize this republic into the first American EMPIRE... Probably with thunderous applause from the left too.

Where's the ACLU now that they have our Army ready to smack down any citizen activity they decide is "civil unrest". Where were they when they went into NO after Katrina and took law abiding citizens firearms???

My name says it all. The lefties want to believe this is right wing ex.- it's not! It is working class people that are sick to death of being taxed to death. Of watching Washington spend money like someone doesn't have to earn it. Of just throwing money at every situation. Need money? Oh let's raise sales tax, property tax, income tax. We have not come out in numbers because we are busy working, but we must step up now and be heard. Quit trying to marginalize our very valid concerns!!!

Your taxes are going down, unless you make more than $250,000/yr. If your property taxes are going up, that's the county, if your sales taxes are going up, that's the state or city. Maybe you should do some research to find out what's really going on before you go off half-cocked to a tea bagging!

10% from EVERYONE. No deductions. No questions. Everyone pays. You make more, you pay more. You don't work, you don't pay. You also don't get to sit on your butt and smoke cigarettes and watch a big screen TV. And oh yeah, we're not gonna pay your mortgage for you either. The math has been done. Your taxes will go down, and the country will have more income. Then we need to find representatives that will spend OUR money responsibly.

I think this story got the coverage it deserved. It wasn't a very interesting or important story. It's just one more republican old guard rally. No grassroots citizen uprising. Same old, Same old. This country did rise up and make a change, face it. If you don't like it do what we did... VOTE.

While I agree with the tea party aspect and its principle outcome, I also feel that those participating should not play the victims, but instead be victors. Start with the idea of "we have the power to remove our representatives". Make a real change. WE HAVE THE POWER.

I saw the people with the flags as I drove by while working. My first thought was "What do these people do for a living, and how can they afford to miss work for this?". Then I thought "what a waste of time. If all these people had spent this time writing letters and emailing their contacts to get the word out, it would be more valuable". I am not opposed to the idea, and I am fed up with Gov't spending too, but this event seemed more like therapy for people than effective lobbying for change. Maybe I just missed the point.

I was there, and it was stunning. The calibre of people that showed up should send shivers down the spine of all the professional politicians in Washington who have brought our nation to the verge of collapse. I can assure you, this is just the beginning of this thing.
