I know Webb's time was not that great compared to his PR of 3:30 and Steve Scott's 3:35 at the '80 trials but he should be competing against Americans i.e. persons at least born in this country not against Kenyan nationals from a country whose largest commodity is long distance runners and has the greatest runners in the world who have immigrated solely to obtain the economic fruits created largely by companies run by 3rd-11th generation Americans. How would Kenya like it if we sent our best trained and educated Doctors Lawyers Scientists MIT Stanford etc. and Technicians to Kenya and took all of Kenyan nationals jobs from them and claimed to be happy to be in Kenya?????? No offense but the great Daniel Komen in his prime could have stomped all Americans as well as Lagat at middle distance running but chose to remain in his native country. I say if you want the benefits of the road racing $$$ that is OK and come here for that but to steal an Olympic dream from a true long term multi generational American is not right!!!!

Lagat earned it and Webb placed 5th, there is a 2,3,4th place in there. Webb has placed himself above the rest of the Americans but has yet to catch up to the world in medal competition. At least Scott made the Olympic teams 3 times...I would consider Webb along the lines of Steve Holman; able to race well at times but fail in the domestic trials competition. What is next for Webb this summer or the next 3 yrs until 2012 Olympics, more empty records(?)..I hope he leaves his domain and trains outside of Reston, VA. As for Lagat, he earned his citizenship like many others and deserves to race for our flag in Beijing. I could add that Steve Prefontaine's mother was from Germany, and that Pre perhaps could have raced for that country or system if he was banned for his risk with unsactioned events etc..

they don't just hand out American citizenship to anyone that wants it. It has to be earned! I am sure your family at some point had to earn there's as Lagat earned his. Please don't be so ugly. Mr Lagat is a great gentleman as is Mr Webb so show some respect to both of them and get a life.
