The solutions to cities rampant spending is tax everyone else and every thing. Way to go Mr. Mayor 1% doesnt sound like much but college students on a tight budget this is the difference between going to your schools or another. When will cities learn?

As the father of 2 college age students, this would definitly help make the decision that I would not have my child attend a University in this city. I just took my daughter to an open house for Art Institutes in Pittsburgh, I will be crossing this university off of my list.

Notice that the mayor waited until after the election to release the new budget. My oldest daughter and her family are glad that they're moving out of Pittsburgh... finally...moving out of Allegheny County to Washington County. They'll have more property, more house, and less taxes. Oh, and the school system is better.

My son will be going to college in fall of 2010.
Any school located within the city limits will not be considered if this bill goes through.

My son is also starting college in the fall of 2010. We are definitely wiping Pittsburgh off the list. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is acting like a typical Democrat politician who has absolutely no idea how his decision will affect the economy of Pittsburgh. There is absolutely no need to even consider a college that taxes tuition when there are so many others to choose from.

Everyone is trying to hold down college tuition to make college affordable not so some moron mayor can tax it! Tax tuition for kids trying to better their lives but pay millions just a few years back for a stadium to keep the minor league Pirates baseball team. Hmmm, brilliant, Mr. Mayor...

Tax the owners of the Steelers - Pirates - Penguins, that is the folks that have the money! Tax the side that handles the selling of products that tout the above mentioned teams. Students don't have the money. You can't be serious!

This is about the dumbest idea presented by a politician yet (and there have been many!) After the 1% tuition tax is imposed, he better find out a way to offset the millions of dollars in lost revenues that will result from the lack of college students in Pittsburgh paying all the other taxes they pay for goods and services.(And this guy was recently reelected??)

Yeah, it doesn't cost enough these days to go to college or any other post-secondary institution. Kids coming out of college with the ability to start at maybe $30K/year, who already have the equivalent of a mortgage payment in monthly student loan bills... let's just add on to it. What an idiot the people of Pittsburgh have elected here.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
