"When the economists tell us the economy is going to grow going forward, and when it does grow above that guardrail, we capture that growth and plow it back into broad-based tax reductions in the hopes that we can retain and grow Vermont opportunities," he said.
When it grows above the guardrail? Say what? This guy sounds like Vermont's version of Sarah Palin. Good looking but dumber than a stump. Dubie says he's pro-growth. He's been Lt. Gov for something like eight or ten years. Under his and Jim Douglas's watch we've seen this state decline. He'll try to blame that on others, but let's not forget that it was these two geniuses who thought it was a good idea to have Lehman Bros. run our state lottery. Fortunately, there was another party that was able to kill that lame idea. Give this guy a gun and send him hunting in Alaska where he'll be right at home. |

Listen to what is being said across the state about Brian Dubie, and then think about what you haven't heard said about him. Have you read anything that states that Brian is first and formost a politician and then a Vermonter? Absolutly Brian has many years of experience in Vermont Governing, but when I think of Brian I think of him as a family man and about his service in the Vermont National Guard. I think about his quiet thoughtful leadership.
Brian is not a charismatic hot shot spotlight hungry insider politician. If that is what you are looking for, vote for the other candidate. |

Running on the theme....Under impress, put them to sleep, no one will notice. Ok, so how come this has not been done already? La De Da.

He is Hardly asleep at the wheel! All told, Brian logged more than 2,500 hours in fighter aircraft. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and was a Commander in the Vermont Air Guard. In 1988, he joined American Airlines, where he is a Captain, flying the MD-80 aircraft. In 1998, he joined the US Air Force Reserve. He is currently an Emergency Preparedness Officer in the National Security Emergency Preparedness Agency. Serving in that role, he earned a Meritorious Service Medal, First Oak Cluster, for his actions in New York following Sept. 11, 2001. In Sept. 2005, Lt. Gov. Dubie served for 2 weeks on the Gulf Coast in the relief effort for victims of Hurricane Katrina, and for his service was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Second Oak leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Commendation Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster, for outstanding achievement at 1st Air Force Hurricane Katrina Operations Center. He is currently a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve. |

So let him do something with the Guard or Reserve, which he seems well positioned for by your comment. He certainly have proven he is NOT qualified for Governor with his record as lieutenant Governor! We have had far too many years with Douglas/Dubie and it is past time for a fresh start! |
|
Well, I geuss that is one point of view. Here is Brian's official biography: http://ltgov.vermont.gov/about_lt_gov Additionally, Our Countries Citizen Soldiers are fulfilling a vital National call for duty while contributing to their state as private citizens. Vermont is fortunate to have them. |

Time to elect fresh conservative legislators. Too many decades of progressive democrats have made Vt. a welfare state!! |

Press Releases
Lt. Governor Brian Dubie Praises Congressional Delegation’s Leadership on Dairy Pricing Fix(Montpelier, VT, July 12, 2010)– Lt. Governor Brian Dubie today said that legislation unveiled in South Burlington today by Vermont Senators Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders promises a long-term solution to milk price instability that has pushed many of Vermont’s dairy farmers to the brink. “The future of our state as we know it depends on the survival of our dairy farms,” Dubie said,“and that is wholly dependent on getting a fair price for their milk. It’s a fix that only Washington can provide. Vermont’s farmers should know, and all Vermonters can be proud to know that Congressman Peter Welch, and Senators Pat Leahy and Bernie Sanders have provided the vision and leadership in Washington to save the American dairy farmer.” In May, Congressman Welch and Congressman Jim Costa of California introduced the H.R. 5288, The Dairy Price Program Stabilization Act of 2010, in the House of Representatives. Last week, Senator Sanders introduced S. 3531, The Dairy Market Stabilization Act in the Senate. Senator Leahy, as senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee is a co-sponsor, along with Senator Patty Murray of Washington. Dubie wrote to his fellow-lieutenant governors in April, urging them to ask their representatives in Congress to sign on as co-sponsors. A number of lieutenant governors signaled their support. Dubie said he will contact lieutenant governors again to rally support for the Sanders-Leahy Senate bill. “Anything I can do to leverage my relationships in other states, that will help bring Senate cosponsors on board with this important legislation is a role I am honored to play in support our dairy farmers,” Dubie concluded. |

"The intention is to help those that need assistance in this historically difficult time. Our support goes to those who are still struggling, and hopefully this unemployment benefit extension will provide some assistance for those who are working through a difficult time," he said.

We haven't even had the primary but it appears that we have a race between a good old fashioned war hero type of guy ...Dubie and a new modern politician who has the ability to talk in a stream of consciousness fashion...Shumlin. When are we going to start really analysing what they say and stop voting party affiliation.
|
|
Dubie is a Republican, but after listening to him I would say he is more of an independent. He is fiscally smart and socially appears to be center of the road. He is a hard working guy that is not a career politician, that is what is needed here in VT. I suggest to anyone out there to listen to his positions and his plans. If you disagree with what he is trying to acomplish then you should not vote for him, but if you agree with him then you should vote for him. Voting by party lines is part of them problem.

It is well known that for the last eight years the Douglas/Dubie team has recurrently publicized Vermont as an inopportune place to do business. If we look to all the candidates in Vermont's upcoming gubernatorial election it is Democratic candidate Peter Shumlin who stands above the rest. Under Shumlin's leadership as president pro tem of the Vermont Senate current legislation has created an entrepreneur's seed fund aiding burgeoning businesses by providing essential capital. http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20... My Turn: The Douglas/Dubie administration sure is lucky! Remember when they ran for the first time in 2002? They promised more jobs for Vermont, and they promised cell phone service and high-speed Internet throughout the state. Didn't happen. Plus, they cut Efficiency Vermont's budget, refused to buy the hydroelectric dams on the Connecticut River (which Hydro-Quebec bought, and we now buy electricity back from them), and had no plans for Vermont Yankee's closure. They didn't address the escalating cost of health care services. Actually they didn't do anything but act as obstructionists when the Legislature tried to tackle these important issues. So why are they lucky? Well, we suffered a global recession (most probably caused by Jim's friend W.), and now the Douglas/Dubie administration is blaming their shortcomings on the economic downfall. But the truth is their administration has been do-nothing, obstructionist and shortsighted.(Remember when they wanted to lease our state lottery to Lehman Brothers -- where would we be now if the Legislature let them do that?) more: http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20... |
Well ask Obozo. He stiffed Lehman Bros and rewarded his cronies at Goldman sucks and AGI to save union pensions instead. Since the lottery was changed few people win anyhow so the money goes back to the education, uh I mean the unions jobs. We'd be better off without the damn thing, that's where we would be! |

I voted Obama & gave him a chance. He is a complete failure. The good thing is-he will lose if he runs again, unless nitwit Palin runs.
The good news is that progressives & leftwingers hopefully neutered and booted no matter who wins 2012. If moderate/conservative ascends to WH, unless they really ef up will keep the lefties out for a while. Since congress & hopefully WH will change landscape dramatically, hope exists for dismantling Obamas ruinous agenda. McCain & Co a sad & motley bunch. Never an option. His nastiness Tourettes-like. He seemed to gather a real weird bunch-'Joe the plumber', tax cheating idiot not even a plumber, & he was worried about being taxed if he makes over $200 grand and being a 'business owner? Palin & her sweet hillbilly family and all the lies she thought she could pull off became a sideshow. SNL had a field day. She has not changed and learned zip. O'Rielly even nailed her to the wall, Beck became obviously and honestly exasperated w/her also. Who can forget the sly, knowing grin of Chris Wallace after his interview, which he vigorously denied? With the now pornstar sperm donor to her grandchild 'engaged' to daughter once again, appears she is poising for another run. I will vote whoever has the best chance of beating him except her. |
Sorry but it isn't a Douglass/Dubie administration. Unlike the presidential election they are both voted on seperatly thus making them 2 different offices. So how about talking about specifically what Dubie has done that is bad? We are not discussing your opinion on Douglas (who by the way won most every election decisively. Which by you logic on other things shows that the majority of Vermonters disagree with you.) Which dams on the connecticut river does Hydo-quebec own? You state that the state could have bought them and instead HQ did and makes money selling power back to us. I checked HQ's website and they do not own a dam on the CT river. You might want to check your facts. |
|
I think she means TransCanada who pays hefty property taxes which revenue would be lost under state ownership. The state of Vermont as well as the towns should not venture into business ventures. They are failing miserably at staying within there budget. I have no reason to believe that the power plants, along the rivers, would be another money pit for the taxpayers. |
