how can any judge enforce the law onto any man for failure to getting a job when this country is in such a recession and jobs are so scarce. veterans such as myself are even having a difficult time finding work because no one will hire a disabled veterans even though i hold 2 degrees and have probably more experience then most business managers in retail or even private organizations and local government including some of our own town leaders. This judge must have blinders on and cant see the light as rest of us who are unemployed and struggling to find work. I think this judge needs to become unemployed, lose his ability to pay his bills and look for food from food closets and wonder how he is going to pay his bills like rest of us. I wonder if our judges have lost that personal compassion about life and what society has done to place people at the bottom compared to those who have money to burn. This question is for that particular judge. Judge when was the last time you stood in a unemployment line or did several days with only eating a sandwich a day or wondered where you were going to get the money to pay your rent or your utilities. I think you must be wearing blinders and can't see how others are really starving or struggling today. maybe you should spend a month living on the street like many disabled veterans are and spend those cold nights wondering if you will survive another cold night with just the cloths on your back. I think you are like many other in political power. you dont care about the unemployed or the old or disabled long as the city and county gets the money to fill its pockets. if you took the time to see us in who we are and how we are living and struggling, maybe you might regain your compassion for others. i have been looking for a job since last October and all i get from people is im to overqualified for management or because of my disabilities i incurred from military service. Our own congressional leaders seem to be failing in this area as well and continue to give themselves raises and living high on the hog and fail to pay normal employees the pay they deserve for putting up with all the horse poop they dish out. us normal people who live below the poverty level will never see that rainbow because our leaders don't want us to. I believe that if the government leaders of our community spent an entire month living on the street with nothing more than what they have on, and really see what it is like to not have a job, a home, a bed, shower and hardly no food, maybe, just maybe each of them will take a nother look on how to help create jobs in our community and put people back to work who really want to work instead of putting them in jail.

Just for the record, this country was built on the people's right to freedom of speech, to say how we each feel about those who were elected to office to take care of our country and us to see and understand how hard it is for us to live in this country when our own government cant feed us or allow us to work. Our government spends trillions on supporting other countries, but fail to take care of its own people. i have watched over the years how each elected official at all levels deals with poverty in our country, community, city and state. none have a real desire to do anything about it except to standby and allow judges to put innocent people in jail because he or she is unable to acquire employment. i wonder how our governor feels about this issue. what if he was placed in jail for the same reason. inability to pay child support because no one will hire him. what if our own mayor or congressional leaders were jailed for failing to provide the needed support to his or her constinuents. maybe the people needs to be more involved in what our congressional leaders, judges and attorneys are doing while raking in all that cash while tearing down the little people of his or her emotional state of well being. i urge our leaders to review issues like this, including how will they help the low income, disabled vets that live in the community who served this country honorably.

$6,897.00 and he gets 15 days of jail time. I wonder how much Al Eby would get for his over 20k in back child support. Lucky he owes that in Sutter county and not Yolo.

Can't you people read and comprehend??? The sentence was not for not GETTING a job but for not LOOKING for a job. He didn't even try to find a job. He's a bum. I know of guys who will do that very thing. Not look for a job or not take a job where they can make a really good salary because they don't want all their money going to child support. I know too that a lot of guys get screwed by the family court system when it comes to child support payments. They treat you like a deadbeat dad even when you are paying and up to date on your payments and will bleed you dry to just to satisfy the ex--it's not really about the child. For instance, maybe you have to pay $700 month in child support on just one kid because you make a good salary and only get to see your kid on weekends. That is not fair because you probably wouldn't spend $700 month just on one kid anyway. The formula they use for calculating the payments sucks big time. It was developed to screw the dads and take care of the moms--not the kids. I know because I've personally experienced this. However, cstephens you are correct, if you can't feed the baby, then keep your pants zipped and don't make a baby.

I only wish they applied the same rules when it's a deadbeat mom that works the system by hiding behind her "own business". She can claim whatever income she wants, is never forced to seek employment, and owes nearly $7000 in back child support (and hasn't made a payment in 8 months). DCSS....if you're going to lay down the law and make an example of this man, it's time to go after ALL of the deadbeats abusing your so-called system!!

I agree with you. The system is absolutely backwards. How about a mother who chooses NOT to work and comes up with every possible medical excuse but has no doctor's report to back it up. This same judge buys her story every time and dad just keeps paying and paying, even while he has his son half of the time. ABOSOLUTELY ridiculous... It is the responsibility of BOTH parents to provide financially for their children.

Why aren't they applying the same charges against all the unmarried "fathers" out there as well? Why is it that this "policy" seems only to apply to married couples and not the unmarried "couples"?

Could it be that the unmarried mothers either don't know who the fathers of their children are or, they aren't willing to provided their names to the proper authorities?

yes, put all men who owe child support in jail forever and remove all chances of ever getting a job. so, the system can pay for their care and the system in turn cat tax the hell out of those who work, which are women. so, while in jail he will demand more and more taxes, higher and higher taxes. GOOD JOB, YOLO COUNTY!, for quickening your liklihood of filing for bankruptcy, like vallejo, california.

wow....you sound like you are talking about my situation. baby daddy won't work cuz they take out child support. lives off women and been trying to get ssi for 15 yrs. finally got it.(free money) he's considered "leagally blind" but that bastard can hit a vein. then when he had the child for 2 yrs, i got stuck with $500/mo support. plus raising the other child (his too) by myself. now that's a MAN to be proud of NOT!!!!
