Makes you wonder, doesn't it? In Hawaii, the step father of my husband's daughter was convicted and put in prison for a year in 2004. He lost his job, home and marriage too. But then he gets out in 2005, is on parole for 5 years and during this time starts a new business taking videos at children's parties with a different name and when we ask the prosecutor's office about this, they tell us we need to "let it go". That's why we moved to Canada. Because we don't trust the legal system. This is someplace he will not be able to come to. They don't allow convicted felons to cross the border. Something is seriously wrong with how they track and monitor sex offenders, not just in Hawaii but throughout the US.

it will only get worse. parole and probation will get furloughed or worse, laid off and no one to supervise them out there. and when a crime is committed, guess who they will blame... Blame the one who did the cut back of furlough and layoffs. Not the unions, but LL and her whiners.

In most states, polygraph testing of sexual offenders on a periodic basis has shown to deter new violations and crimes. For some reason California never got the message when it comes to parolees. Home visits, GPS monitoring serve a limited purpose, but nothing tells a parole officer more about an offender's BEHAVIOR than polygraph. The recent horrific case of the parolee in Antioch, Ca., holding the girl captive for all those years would have most likely been discovered had this criminal been submitting to regular polygraph testing. Such a shame--who is in charge of California parole?
