Wow...you are really critical of local students' college choices. I hope your Harvard degree looks great on your wall!! ; P
Too many people around here think that getting into Gannon, Mercyhurst, or Behrend is a great accomplishment. Their acceptance rates are in the 70-80% range, which essentially means that if you have a beating heart and a check, you're accepted. Colleges and universities that have such high acceptance rates are either unranked or ranked very low. Look at any of the national rankings (US News & World Report, Forbes, Kiplinger's, Princeton Review, etc) and look for the local institutes of higher learning. You might find one having some low regional ranking. Allegheny is the only "local" college that has any sort of decent ranking. The locals also tend to have low graduation rates while their academics are mediocre at best. Too many people accept mediocrity and then wonder why they have no realistic job offers or opportunities when they graduate. They should, if they are smart enough, go to a better school and make better connections than those that are available locally.

I edfinitely agree with you about the parenting.Get back to us when you find out what college they will attend. See what tier school they will attend. Hopefully, it won't be any of the weak colleges in this area.

Seriously? You wasted a reply to say something like that? I'm not even offended. Just rather amused.
