Mr. Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats, recognized Mr. Owens’s election and then posed a question to the other lawmakers. According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked,“Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”

:):):):)

Ah yes. THIS is the behavior of someone who really knows how to win friends and influence people. Move over Mr. Carnegie....

Well, he's right, at least about the idea that delaying the adoption of the health care bill will despirit the Democratic voters (members of the Democratic party, not democratic voters which includes Republicans.) He's also in a tough spot. He's trying to do something he's convinced is good. He's acting in accordance with his beliefs. Would that more of us did so. What he is trying to do is good - he wants to help people who don't have health insurance. The problem is that it is reaching the point at which he may feel he has to do something - anything, rather than to figure out what the best thing or the right thing to do is.
The American people are fickle and impatient. This situation has been proclaimed to be a crisis (with good reason? without good reason? that's not the issue) and as a result it must be resolved quickly or he'll lose his credibility and "our" good will. At this point, it may be that any health care bill is better than no health care bill, even if no health care bill today might lead to a better health care bill tomorrow.

obama is far from credible. He's not only a usurper to the Presidency but he is a rabble rousing Marxist who stands for what ? Fomenting trouble in this country.

obama is a major problem unlike any man holding the office before him.

I think the health care thingy is a smoke screen so obama doesn't have to concentrate on bringing jobs back to America. For decades,(and I don't say that it is all his fault), went out of this country because those in power allowed it to happen. If he could bring jobs back, he could win the respect and love of the American people.....but...I don't see him doing any of that in the near future. I wish he would do it....I for one would be happy. So many folks out of work and families suffering and losing their homes and all.

Wow ! You want to be civil. Here's a civil response. Impeachment is for "high crimes and misdemeanors". obama is going to have to be charged with a crime such as treason. Unlike Clinton who was charged with "high crimes and misdemeanors" for getting a blowjob in the people's house on company time. Sadly there is no true legal definition of "high crimes".

No, the usurper obama is going to have to be charged with much more than the impeachable offense of "high crimes and misdemeanors".

As an aside....I STILL cannot understand how Americans, let alone, American military vets support this secretive, never did anything, usurper obama. He has spent nearly 2 million dollars to keep his life a secret. Yet Americans STILL support this occupant of the Oval Office who has repeatedly kissed the behinds of our enemies.

No....obama will have to be charged with much more than "high crimes and misdemeanors".

Harvey....I can't agree with you more.

This country is in dire straits as we've sent our industrial base to Communist China, India and Muslim Pakistan. Our free trade mentality has crushed the sovereign independence of this country. We no longer manufacture anything. Not even paper clips are made in this country any longer. How could we sustain any type of long-term combat or internal strife when we've sent manufacturing outside our borders ?

More than 15 years ago Bill Clinton and a Republican controlled Congress passed MFN, Most-Favored Nation status for Red China. This annual requirement to give the Commies MFN (no tariff on anything imported from Red China)was soon made permanent so that the tariff never came in question again. And remember....back in 1998 or thereabouts, the Dem Clinton and the Republicans controlling Congress conspired to destroy the industrial base of this country.

Unless we leave the World Trade Organization, denounce free trade, put a heavy tariff on EVERYTHING coming into this country AND have a revolt where we remove EVERY SITTING POLITICIAN from office,we will be destroyed as a nation. Our time as a nation is limited.

China's most favored nation status has been in effect since 1979 and was up for renewal every year since till 2000 when Bush made it permanent.

No, Bush supporters were generally ALL anti-gov't. Anti-BIG Gov't anyway. No - their claim was and is that liberals are anti-American. They hate the very things that made this country great. And by the way, it has not changed!

Actually, liberals are for big government and that is not what our country was founded on.Freedom to make your own choices and not the government telling you what they think is best for for you. That is exactly what the current adminstration and his fellow progressives (both sides of the isle)are trying to do.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Leo

If you were unable to resolve yesterday's difficulties they'll be even more pronounced today a Mars turns retro in your sign. Get everything out in the open so you can discuss it, otherwise you run the risk of harbouring resentments and grudges that will emerge further down the line. Be prepared to hear some home truths and also to deliver a few of your own. But be fair!
