The most pitiful thing I have seen on the local political scene is the latest attempt by former Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper (D-Frontier)to pose as politically relevant. The defeated ex-Congressgoof floated her name in the state media as a candidate for- no kidding- Governor. This was reported with great mirth by reporters covering the Pennsylvania Society, where she was seen floating it at the posh Richards-Hagen reception. Can you imagine- she can't win for Congress or Mayor, so she imagines she can follow in Tom Ridge's footsteps. Can Corbett be that lucky? No, so far no one takes it seriously, and even her chums at the Erie Times haven't floated this. Worst case of Potomac Fever on record.

Dahlkemper never ran for mayor. She was an upstart in 2008 who defeated a well-entrenched republican candidate for congress, and did so against formidable odds. She can do this again, but much will depend on what sort of support she can get outside of western PA, and to what extent Pennsylvanians come to realize that Corbett is selling the family silver to the petroleum industry. Your post is an interesting bit of name-dropping, which tells me that you have some personal animus. How about using your real name next time?

BWAHAHAHAHA!...Dahlkemper for Governor...BWAHAHAHAHA!
The people were fooled once & witnessed the most unabashed suckup performance of any politician wanna be in years.
Could it happen again?...Yes, as the stupidity of the people politically is amazing ,but it won`t be with Dahlkemper. Her performance as a Congresswoman was far to mediocre to recover from.

Pa voters were stupid enough to re-elect Obama, anything is possible. Corbett needs to go, Kathy would be even worse though

She lost to Mike Kelly in 2010 by the widest margin of any US Congress race in that cycle. In short, she was utterly crushed by any measure. To hear her tout herself as a possible candidate for Governor is absolutely rediculous.

They came out for Obama in 2008 and 2012 for the Prez race. They didn't come out for the Congressional midterms in 2010 and likely wont in 2014 either.

Unfortunately, it is stuff like this that has cemented the 'Erie' reputation among those in the media that cover state government. Just a couple weeks ago we were talking about state media perceptions on one of our newly elected representatives. These kinds of things are what cause those reactions.

Also unfortunate, is that she is representative of what passes for politically qualified in Erie, which simply feeds the perception.

Now I know that this will get immediately dismissed by those who support the Dahlkempers of politics, but it does nothing to improve the political impact of the Erie region in state or federal government.

It has been posted several times Erie has been dominated for about 50 years by the Democratic Party & is the reason why Erie is in a death spiral as a place to live & work. It is also the reason someone as unqualified as Kathy "Pelosi" Dahlkemper was ever elected to office in the first place & second that she would now consider herself to be Governor material after the catastrophic defeat she had at the hands of Mike Kelly.
The clueless of the City of Erie no longer have the voting strength to elect another Kathy Klutz to any office outside the city.
