I think his name is Bill, he seems like a good guy and will make a good cop. I think he is a new hire and is on probationary status for now. He has been doing ride alongs until he is cleared for duty.

i too have seen this another person. no i don't think it's bill. i have seen bill and he actually patrols most of the time by him self and when vern isn't working. this is another person, a younger kid

Would surely hope they don't give an untrained person a gun and just turn them loose on the street.

Has nothing to do with not trusting a person. It has to do with proper procedures and protecting both the new cop and the public.

haha a police cadet. as far as i know and according to the erick pd myspace page there are no longer any police cadets due to lack of intrest or something like that.but who cares if he's been threw cadet lawman it doesn't train you that much...not enough to get out and do the duties of a real officer.

This is my first and last post. My name is Bill Akins not Atkins. Im 31 yrs old. Not married yet, not my kids, but i treat them as they are. Yes it is my family. I am listed as part time, however I work full time hours due to shortage of officer's. I am by the book as some of you know. I don't have favorites nor do i want any. I appreciate the positive comment's so far, just hope they will continue even if I have to write you a ticket/ take you to jail oneday. I'm just trying to do my job and help clean up the town for those of you who want and well...for the ones that don't as well. Thank you and have a nice day...

No one is crazy about getting a ticket, but if a ticket is deserved there is little to gripe about IF the serious stuff is being pursued too. You know, things like cooking meth, selling drugs, doing drugs, running drug houses, stealing, murder, etc. What has been done in the past is letting the VERY serious stuff go and focusing on speeding, in fact barely speeding. No I did not get a ticket, but I do hear what has gone on.
Here's to you and your efforts to help clean up the town. Good police work is welcome and appreciated by all - well most! Good luck.

That punk that rides around with Vern is not even close to being a cop. If anyone gets pulled over and appoarched by this idiot who actually works at the Sonic in Sayre or if you have ever been given a ticket by this guy you should contact a lawyer and get rich. Ol' Chiefy poo is having this guy do police work and he is not even of age or even close to being law enforcement quality. Very easy lawsuit that Vern once again has opened up for the City. When is someone going to take advantage of it and get rich?
