God forbid gambling is made legal and we decide for ourselves if we want to play or not. It seems the people of this state aren't capable of making their own decisions.

I have to agree with ya Injun. All the states around us have it. Why should those who want to gamble go to other states: spend money on hotel, food, gifts etc. Let all that money stay in AL. Plus keep the taxes in the state!!

Why in the world is this even something the State Government and some citizens are so concerned on seeing never happen in the state of Alabama. We hate drunk driving but yet the state OWNS Liquor stores? So go out and buy up booze at a state store, run around in your auto drunk, yeaaaa that makes sense.

I see the logic NOT! Drunk driving KILLS, not gambling machines or the lottery. Wake up you Idiots of Montgomery!

How many times do the people have to vote NO before others will accept it. Right after every vote to legalize gambling is shot down by the voters, the pro gambling people start in again. We need to vote again on it. Our people didnt get to vote. Give it up. Its a no win proposition. The problems associated with gambling far outway any benefit. Look at Florida. Doesnt help them. Got them in more trouble. Same with Georgia. Education still has funding shortfalls. And there is always Mississippi. Has it helped them? NO! And what happened to the promised benefit of our beloved Dog Tracks and the Horse Track? Where has the benefit of our legalized gambling from that gone? How many times do we have to get burned before we learn from our mistakes.

Milton McGregor and Ronnie Gilley must be mentally challenged if they believe Alabama wants Phenix City's history brought back to life.

We know that each Bingo machine brings in $150 Profit a day x 365 days x 20,000 machines =$1 Billon dollars a year.
Alabama cannot afford to "trust" Milton & Ronnie's moral compass will lead our state to a brighter future.
Just say "NO" to BINGO!

Bob Riley is so corrupt! Sweet Home Alabama Act would add millions of tax revenue which is MUCH needed by our state. Regulate and tax bingo!

We have every right to play bingo as the indians! Let us play!

What ever is decided, should be decided by vote of the people. The legislature, should never decide this, because we the people can't trust em.

I take my money over to Mississippi and up to Tennessee several times a year to gamble and it's funny to see so many Alabama tags in the parking lot. Why doesn't Alabama want to keep money in the state? That sounds like a pretty terrible business plan. But whatever it takes to "keep Alabama special."

And just to go ahead and address a comment that I'm sure someone will add, "Yes, I would like to move to another state, but my family is here and I don't want to be too far from them."

It's time ALABAMA'S CITIZENS voted on bingo and lottery. One man (the Governor)should not decide this for the entire state. Let the PEOPLE vote.

I posted the following comments else where also:

When will this bible beating governor realize that his beliefs do not match the majority of the AL population. I grew up in GA and am proud to say that the GA lottery paid my college tuition. My family paid NOTHING out of pocket for my BBA in Accounting......

As it stands, I am glad to provide TN and GA with $1000+ each year since AL does not want the money. But when you come to me begging for money for the schools because of proration, well, tough..... I pay income and property taxes in AL and honestly I do not give a damn how dumb your kids are since your governor does not care either..........

The only thing I have to say about this is "giggle, giggle." The state of Alabama has missed out and will continue to miss out on more opportunities than they can imagine by not legalizing the lottery and casinos. True enough there may be some problems associated with this new endeavor, but the benefits out weigh the problems. Legalizing gambling will generate revenue and create jobs all at the same time. I guess the leaders of this great state are scared of progress.

i would rather see Alabama's take the property and land from some people that do not gamble responsibly, instead of Mississippi getting all of it, when this does happen a person can affort to by property and land at a bankrupt price instead of having to give 5 times more than the property is worth . this is what is happening now .
