I woke up this morning and looked outside to see a cloudy sky and rain. I was very happy because over here we hadn't seen rain for a long time and had been having nothing but extreme hot weather. I turned on the T.V. and hear the bad news about Steve Irwin. I was very shocked when I saw and heard this. My happiness quickly went away and I became very sad. My condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be missed by all his fans. He was a great person. May he rest in peace.

In Irwin's own words

Crikey means gee whiz, wow!
***

When I see what's happened all over the world, they're looking at me as this very popular, wildlife warrior, Australian bloke. And yet back here in my own country some people find me a little bit embarrassing.

***

Crikey, mate. You're far safer dealing with crocodiles and western diamondback rattlesnakes than the executives and the producers and all those sharks in the big MGM building.

***

I bled a lot. I got hit across the face. We couldn't film for seven days. I got whacked, underwater, across the face. I finished the shot, got into the boat and blood started coming out.

***

I get called an adrenaline junkie every other minute, and I'm fine with that.

***

I have no fear of losing my life. If I have to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it.

***

I would never blame an animal if it bit me, because I'm at fault, not them. I heal so quickly. If you cut my arm off I would grow a new one.

***

I'm high as a kite, mate. I'm flat out like a lizard drinking, all the time. You know I have trouble just sitting here. You know, I'm just like, got to get up.

He used to be my favorite person to watch when I was really little. When my mom just told me that he had gotten killed by I sting-ray my heart started racing. I was thinking that that is so terrible but it is really hard to get killed by a sting-ray. But if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time it is possible. He will be missed terribly and his wife and children must be devistated. They are in my prayers. RIP Steve.

Truely a great loss to the world of animals and the children who became aware of different types of species through his high risk adventures. Steve presented these animals in an exciting way. Not just some boring text book fashion but really demondsrated his love and passsion for these animals. Steve is definately a hero and He will be greatly missed.

Steve Irwin is one of the best known people on the Animal Planet. My children have learned so much from him. They as well as the rest of my family were absolutely devastated to hear the news this morning. It was very common for him to be on our tv every night. My children wanted to go to Australia to meet him. They have a respect for all types of animals because of him. I also live in a wooded area and have learned about the different kinds of snakes from him. He will be greatly missed by our family. Terri, Bindi, and Bob and all the family at the Australia Zoo will be in our thoughts and prayers. We love You Steve Rest In Peace!!!!!!!!

Steve Irwin, one in a million, we need more people like him. I'm so saddened by this news and feel so sad for his wife and children and for the people whom worked with him and knew him. I wish I could have met him.
