There is nothing wrong with T-ville.The place gets a bad rap all the time. If you read the enfield press most of the arrests take place in elsewhere in town

It is quite reassuring that such an "informed" resident is a part of this event. I will, by all means, keep you in mind, as an expert of course, when issues involving Enfield come up. As a self proclaimed expert, I find it strange that all the woes of Enfield haven't been resolved under your guidance. Where have you been all these years? Stop holding back! As for the preferred status, I guess you're just not that informed or you would be able to enjoy the perks of the status you feel you enjoy. You do enjoy the stauts, don't you? I believe Enfield should display their police and be proud of the men and women who serve in that function. I just don't feel this is the venue for it. It would appear that you may have an issue reading as there was no mention of a "scam" or "conspiracy", but, hey, you only claim to be informed, not literate. That's to bad. In case you may have forgotten, celebrating our nations birth includes celebrating the few rights we have left. One of those rights is that of free speech. It appears you feel that is not so, as long as criticism is included. That's a shame. Being a part of the event does not allow you any more privledge, in that respect, than anyone else. |

I'm sorry, but from what I understand, the "preferred status" you are referring to is for Sponsors of the event. They have donated a great deal of money & time towards the Annual celebration. No different from a sporting event sponsor, music event sponsor etc...

And over priced at that. |

1 Amazingly, there were no riots, no break-ins no car damage no cars stolen and no masses of drunkards left on the green the next morning. Some people just love to spout off yet do nothing to fix anything. A Conservative Resident said: "In case you may have forgotten, celebrating our nations birth includes celebrating the few rights we have left. One of those rights is that of free speech. It appears you feel that is not so, as long as criticism is included. That's a shame. Being a part of the event does not allow you any more privledge, in that respect, than anyone else." I have no problem with anything someone says, as long as it is not made up fantaises about all the crime you said would happen. And no, being part of this doesnt allow me any more respect - but taking action, trying to get things better in Thompsonville and giving up a lot to do so certainly does - and I repect all those who do more than just talk, reguardless of thier views. Sitting at a keyboard, hiding, and trying to sound important garners no respect what so ever. |

1 There were several arrests, one stabbing, one bottle over someones head, a couple interfering with Police, many drunks getting kicked out on an on. So wait until you read the Police bolg before you comment.:) |

Yeah, maybe true, but on a per capita basis, i.e. size of T'ville compared to the rest of town, T'Ville blows the rest of town away. |

Overall the Enfield celebration was very good. I wish it was the week before because my business had extra days off for the Fourth of July. Altough the band Friday night was very late due to electrical malfunctions Bruce in the USA was excellent and I stayed till the last encore.
The parade on Saturday had good moments and some slow moments. Parade organizers need to keep it flowing more efficiently. There were some big spaces in the parade. Also we need more action type marchers (Bands, Floats, etc.) Sunday fireworks were excellent like always but the pedestrian walkway to get out after was a nightmare, especially for strollers and wheel chairs. I suggest opening a walkway along the Town Hall straight to the grassy area by the school. To get out you had to walk down a narrow street where the food venders were so you had two way traffic verses people in line. I suggest setting up some bleachers in th parking lot that was taped off. Overall very fun! Five Flags! |
|
Uh, fire department and state law regs prohibit anyone being in the taped off area; don't think you'd want to be there if one of those rockets misfired. |

If T'Ville is soooo sooo terrible, how come the last homicide, and "suspicious" deaths were clear across town? I'd like to see statistics townwide. I bet the crime is equally distributed. Go for a walk and enjoy an ice cream at TVille Creamery. Also, if its really that bad, why do some of our own Enfield's finest reside here with their families. Do you really think they would put their own at risk? Get a life! Im proud of the townies! The owner/occupied residents are here to stay and take back their streets! THOMPSONVILLE IS ALIVE & VIBRANT and here to stay!

I live in the T-ville section of town. Both my husband and I work and we have five kids. My kids are respectful and polite. We're not trash and we don't spend our time getting drunk and vandalizing cars. You get a bad mix of people wherever you go, whether in Enfield or any other town. To catagorize all of T-ville like that is wrong. Open your eyes and try to meet more people and you'll be surprised to find that they live in T-ville and are not felons and low lives.

Something gets me though about this event. They have a VIP band they give out which gives you free beer and food. Someone I know told me they went to the event with their family and had seen friends from Enfield and got this band from them. They aren't even from Enfield. What qualifies you to get a VIP pass????????

To be fair, though the 'major' crimes happen outside of Thompsonville, there is a significant crime level there. It's only around 15% of the towns population and though I dont have the exact number in front of me it is more than 15% of the crime. |

1 The event costs just under $300,000.00 to put on. So you can see that the Town is just a small portion of what it takes to put together such a great celebration. As for the Tville+boose trouble thing There were a total of 5 arrests attributed to this years event. Three were under 18 and no alcohol was involved. If you look at the Police blotter in any town of this size you will find at least this many on any given weekend. Lastly I would like to comment on the fireworks. This is one of the hardest jobs of the weekend. When the first shot is fired I always get a little emotional to see about 10,000 people on the Enfield green and know that about 25,000 others in the area around the green are about to be thrilled by something I was a part of. |

Man o man, seems we have same kind you find on the JI site. People who have nothing better to do but tear down the only town festival for its "drunks" or "waste of money". Would you have Enfield folk spend money out of town? O yea, great way to support someone elses taxes eh? Could you not think that there might be an effect of giving some side business to CVS, Whole Donuts and other side business nearby? Try to get some facts before you make this some townie drunken orgy eh?

Ya Know, I attend this function every year. I look forward to it. Being born and raised here in Enfield, I love to run into old friends and talk about the way the town used to be.
This has been the best year in a long time. There were more crafters, more quality crafters and I love the local businesses coming out and providing a taste of their menu, although a bit expensive. I am not rifraf, I am not a drunk or use drugs. I come to enjoy the excitement and see old friends. If you don't like to come to functions such as this, stay at home, we have enough nasty and hateful people in this town, we don't you bringing it to functions such as this. I say keep it up and hopefully it will get larger in years to come!! |

You comment on 16 year old skanks and how "nice to look at" they are. You too are not any better than they are. Checking them out. What a pig. Gangbangers? Because a group of kids dress alike and hang out together they are labeled gangbangers? When I was growing up doing that with my friends, we were not labeled. We were just hanging out together and attending a town function. As for the fat comment, how pathic a comment when anyone who doesn't have their head up their butt knows we are a nation with a major obesity problem. You would find such large numbers of obese people at ANY large gathering. NOT JUST HERE IN ENFIELD! |
