Used to describe me it looks like. I will say, in as simple words I can for you, that you will find very few 'more informed' people when it comes to Enfield and Thompsonville specifically than I.
Looks like the 'conservative' part of the name you hide behind to attempt to belittle those here, and in Enfield as a whole - applies primarily to the amount of time you spend reading and learning.
I am part of the celebration this weekend and I get no preferred parking, and will not be insulated from anyone, not even the garbage you say will show up - but seems like you don't want to go anyway so I wouldn't require the insulation in any case.
It's not some huge display of police or a secret scam to fill someone's pockets or any other conspiracy theory nonsense. It's a celebration of the town, its people, its history and its part in our nations birth and independence.
After all you have said here about the people in Enfield, I am optimistic you do not live in town, if you do, by all means move to somewhere that you would fit in. There are plenty cabins in the middle of nowhere in the Midwest. We will remain in a community.
And all I can say to the Thanksgivng rant you made is - congratulations on learing to use a computer, it's a big step for someone after just learning to walk upright.

Amazingly, there were no riots, no break-ins no car damage no cars stolen and no masses of drunkards left on the green the next morning. Some people just love to spout off yet do nothing to fix anything.

I have no problem with anything someone says, as long as it is not made up fantaises about all the crime you said would happen. And no, being part of this doesnt allow me any more respect - but taking action, trying to get things better in Thompsonville and giving up a lot to do so certainly does - and I repect all those who do more than just talk, reguardless of thier views. Sitting at a keyboard, hiding, and trying to sound important garners no respect what so ever.

I would like to say thank you to all who have commented. I would also like to clear up some of the confusion. The commitee that puts this event is a non profit orginzation. All of the proceeds are audited by the state and go into the next years event budjet. The commitee raises the money to provide this event through local and national sponsorships and grants. The Town of Enfield is a sponsor. I believe the line item for the town is under $25,000.00. This includes all of the Police and DPW work that is provided.
The event costs just under $300,000.00 to put on.
So you can see that the Town is just a small portion of what it takes to put together such a great celebration.
As for the Tville+boose trouble thing There were a total of 5 arrests attributed to this years event. Three were under 18 and no alcohol was involved. If you look at the Police blotter in any town of this size you will find at least this many on any given weekend.
Lastly I would like to comment on the fireworks. This is one of the hardest jobs of the weekend. When the first shot is fired I always get a little emotional to see about 10,000 people on the Enfield green and know that about 25,000 others in the area around the green are about to be thrilled by something I was a part of.

I will say that I was stunned at the amount of white trash and gangbangers that I saw at the fireworks.... to say nothing of the 16 year old girls dressed like skanks... nice to look at but really where are the parents of these losers... and did you have to be fat to get in? just asking
