Yesterday the publisher of the EG moved all the ongoing conversations over to the forums and now there is only one story being argued. A playhouse that was raffled for charity has be re gifted by the winner and all anyone wants to talk about is the grammatical errors of the author. The person who complained about the poor writing skills did so with poor grammar and improper use of nouns, pronouns and adjectives. Someone called him/her out on his/her error and the poster responded with another poorly written statement.
The United States military has thousands of troops deployed around the world on a variety of missions, including peacekeeping, security and military training. http://www.cnn.com/interactive/maps/world/ful... Our corporations continue to mop up what money is left in our bleeding US Treasury and you can't smoke a cigarette at the bar. In local news, we are planning on shutting schools and busing children all over the county because we lack the funds needed to keep classrooms open while we plan to spend money on a large outdoor carpet and figure out how to make a pet poop park at the entrance of our town. With all of this to argue about, why are we arguing over a playhouse? Is that all you got? |

Excellent point, outraged. I'm with you, but we have a local newspaper that refuses to publish anything negative. We've been told over and over again to keep things positive. As you recall, that publisher called those of us who debate our points cowards because we do so anonymously. You're absolutely right about the many, many valid issues we can be debating. It's a good damn thing we get television news and radio news around here.
Look at what we must be aware of now with the recent terrorist bomb aboard that airliner. A small town has many people who travel. We all need to be aware of the hard news, and not who gets to bid on a playhouse. Yes, disgusting. Then there's this site. |

It is scary to think that they only thing that kept this criminal act from becoming a Christmas disaster was dumb luck. We pay hundreds of millions of dollars for homeland security and they let this guy get on an international flight with a one way ticket and no luggage. They were probably busy searching some little old lady with a Minnesota accent.

My hometown of Coffeyville just announced they're going to 3 days a week. Even when they were doing 5 days( they took Mondays out a long time ago)the reporting was shabby. At least the Gazette is there 6 days still.

My guess is the gazette will be less than daily within three or four years. Just a guess.
