Many people believe that anyone who is a good person,has a good moral standard and believes that Christ is the Saviour is a Christian. Just the fact that people believe a certain doctrine does NOT mean that it is truth.(John 17:17)(1John 4:1-6)(Acts 17:11);

In (Acts 26:24-28) we read -

Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

26 For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.
27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

The apostle Paul said - " For the king knoweth of these things," (vs 27). So King Agrippa believed the message about Christ being the Saviour.

Notice what King Agrippa said to the apostle Paul. "Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian."

So my friends believing the message alone does not make one a Christian. So the "faith alone" doctrine is false according to the word of God.

* Being a person with good morals does not make one a Christian. For we can read about Cornelius in (Acts 10:2). He was a good man who even prayed to God,but he was lost according to (Acts 11:14).

14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.(Acts 11:14).

You see man is saved by being obedient to the message of the gospel (Rom.1:16)(Rom.6:3-6 ; 16-18)(Acts 10:34.35)(Heb.5:9)(1Peter 3:21).

Cornelius was delivered a specific message (Acts 10:48).

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Cornelius and his family had to be baptized, immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins,to be added to the church by the lord. Just like the Ethiopian eunuch in (Act 8:38,39)and just like the Jews in (Acts 2:38-47).

But beginning the journey (becoming a Christian) does not guarantee one will go to heaven.

One must remain faithful till death (Rev.2:10).

...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life (Rev.2:10).

...be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.(1Cor.15:58)

Notice (2Peter 1:1-10)-

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

* Simon's Conversion,Departure and repentance -(Acts 8:12-24)

Simon becomes a Christian in verse 12.

He then allows his passed evil ways to enter his mind once again in verse 18.

Simon is reproved in verses 20-23.

Simon repents in verse 24.(Acts 8:12-24)

This is called the second law of pardon. It is only for the Christian (not the alien sinner).

We can also read about the second law of pardon in (1John 1:9).

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Then the Christian must be faithful in attending the church services of the Lord regularly to go to heaven according to (Heb.10:25-31).

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.(James 2:24)

I noticed someone judged this article to be clueless. Would you care to take the time to correct the information in the article? Or do you not care about people who you claim are in the wrong spiritually?
