Joliet paves way for asphalt plant

The city council approved an asphalt plant on the south end of town amid opposition from nearby property owners and support from labor leaders.

Why in the world would they stick an asphalt plant a stones throw from the Route 66 venue? I have been impressed by the facilities for several years but will no longer be able to visit the events. My wife and son both have allergic reactions to the toxins these plants produce. The operator of this new facility is new at the game so he surely will not have the thing running right. Local residents should monitor the chromium levels in the air now before it starts up, you'll be surprised what you find later.

why havent you had reactions to the four other asphalt plants within 2 miles, and FYI nobody does asphalt on sat or sun when races are on .Its called GRIDLOCK stupid

I'm so glad I have a big house in Shorewood.........I won't have to smell that stinky asphalt,,,,If you don't like Joliet move to Shorewood! They won't build an asphalt plant here...I don't think! The people in Shorewood are SO friendly and nice.....CU later!!
