In Uniontown, KS there is a herd of miniature horses that are starving to death.
read the story here
http://www.miniaturehorsetalk.com/index.php...

The short version is some one went to look at a horse. They found about 100 starving horses with no water. They contact the Miniature Horse rescue. The Sheriff says the horses are being cared for. The vet says they are in bad shape. Until the Sheriff says they can be removed they can not get the horses out. There is a lot more to this having to do with the owner not living on the premises. Farm subsidies.

Read the information and help in any way you can. The rescue does have homes set up to foster the horses if they can get them out.

Newspapers, TV stations need to be contacted to get this moving.

It is ridiculous what Uniontown is allowing with this herd of minis. Protecting the abuser is not the law...the law is to protect the abused!. Get busy and see that hese poor horses are taken care of and that Mr. Trmbly is seen as an unfit owner.

I'd like to ask Sheriff Coleman how, in good conscience, he can continue to allow the abuse and neglect to continue. These horses and goats need help...NOW!!
Sheriff Coleman has the authority to step in and seize the animlas, instead, he is covering up the true facts, and protecting Vern Trembly, instead of the horses!

I'm one of the hundreds of people who have been actively trying to save these horses. Is there anyone in Uniontown who is willing to help us??? We need eyes and ears in that area.

Mr. Trembly even admitted that he didn't have the funding to care for them and get them in better conditions...so WHY are the minis still in his ownership???

He claims they are more important than life itself, well then his life is not that valueable obviously! And that they are his everything...well he needs new hobbies now. He is uncapable to care for them, and refuses to get help by downsizing.

Everyone is doing all they can think of to help the horses, if you have a voice then speak it. City council meeting or county commissioner meeting to make community members aware. Pass the word by mouth around the area for more concern as to the irresponsible care and the sheriff that doesn't see it to be important enough to press charges and get them the care they need. The sheriff claims they aren't children, they are animals...but ABUSE is ABUSE!!!!

please please if you are local, DO SOMETHING!!!! contact your local authorities and SPEAK UP FOR THE ANIMALS!!! there are people all over the world trying to help but it is the people RIGHT THERE who will be able to do the most... you don't have to take them to your home, just make sure they are released to CMHR so they can be taken care of!

This is absolutely horrible. How can city officals actually stand by and do nothing??
They need to step and and take care of these poor horses. Oh yes, AND prosecute the owner to the maximum punishment that they can give him!
Kansas needs to help these poor animals NOW !!!!

that city doesn't have a police department and its covered by the sheriff's office. There is no animal welfare agency in the county.

there is a local article about them at fstribune.com

Personally I feel that if he can not operate a business breeding horses without being criminal negligent then he should not be able to profit from the sale of any of the animals. If they are indeed close to death then they really have no financial value.
If everything said is true then charges should be filed and the horses taken from him and given to any responsible willing ranch owner who will give them proper care.

i had a horse that was underfed in a relatives "care". he took ill, but we kept him around until he passed. i don't think that a horse can fully recover from being in that condition.

while it's nice to love horses, there are certain conditions that they just cannot recover from. i suppose that starving a horse is kind of like cancer in our older medical history. rarely can they come back to a good condition. about all you can do is to give them steroid shots to help them to feel better for a while, but when the pains come back it seems to be worse. sorry for the bad news, but that's just the way it seems to be. otherwise, about all they can do is to put them to sleep. i don't like the idea myself, but it's just reality.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Leo

You'll be action-oriented today, Leo. If truth be told, intense physical activity has the ability to soothe you much more than frenzied mental exercise. Invitations to madness are the wrong thing for you, but they are tempting nonetheless. Dig in your heels and do what you know you have to do. When driving this evening, take extra care.
