After coming away from reading the article I've come to the conclusion that the trustees that voted for the tattoo shop did not even speak a sentence for the good of Franklin Park and the children.

having another business to tax IS for the good of fp. didn't you read the article? body art is mainstream now, and as long as they follow the law there is no need to worry for the children. get your brains out of the 1950s mindset, its people like you who are hurting fp not the trustees for approving this decision.

for the good of children? Isnt it the parents' responsibility to set values for their kids? Isnt it the parents' responsibility to teach their children to resist temptation? Following some of your logic.. then all liquor stores, all cigarette stores, all candy stores (food is an unhealthy addiction also), all book and magazine stores, all video stores should be banned. I thought the United States is the country where someone can open a business and someone has a choice. What I am really hearing is that most parents dont have control over their children. Good grief. I have heard that it is hard to raise children today.. but from what I see and hear is that most parents haven given up on their kids and they see the tattoo shop as one more hassle their kids will give them grief about. I was overhearing some parents talk about their kids going over to their friends' house or to the park...then I heard a big sign of relief from the parents..they said it was great..the kids were leaving them alone and they were someone elses' problem for a while. Parents have always had struggles and obstacles when raising their kids.. They had them 100 years ago and they have them now. They just are different. I am sorry...I dont think opening a tattoo shop will corrupt children. Look at all the north shore suburbs who ban tattoo shops. Most of those kids who grow up in these quiet neighborhoods with no McDonalds, No fast food restaurants and No Tattoo shops have one of the highest suicide rates. They also have some of the highest drug use. Having them grow up in perfectly landscaped neighborhoods didnt make them have less problems or grow up to be outstanding human beings. Surroundings dont raise children, parents do.

You are so right, the tattoo shop is not the bad guy here we also have parents that think it is cool to have house parties and serve young people liquor, and this parent also holds a prominent position with the village. The world is not perfect, people are not perfect we just go day by day and do the best we can let's hope the kid makes some money on his venture.

yes. you are right.. having a tattoo shop doesnt corrupt children ... it is the parents and their values and their parenting skills that determine what a child does and what choices and decisions they make. And you are right about the nice surroundings that dont contribute to the problems children have. Look at those brilliant responsible parents in one of those northshore suburbs..Deerfield I believe, who openly had served liquor to teenagers. There are no tattoo shops there... just stupid people who decided to have children.

how much does a tattoo go for? Do franklin park teenagers have that much money? I think most of the clientele will be mostly out of towners. Also...dont tattoo shops have a rule about giving tattoos to under age children?
