Elmont property owners sue over 'blight' designation

Elmont was once nice. Revitalization? With it's new ethnic population it's like trying to revitalize Wyandach & New Cassel. Give me a break

Why didn't these landlords do nothing to fix up their buldings and surroundin area if they cared so much?

They should probably designate all of Elmont as "blighted", bulldoze it, and start from scratch

Not everyone in Elmont is illegal, not all illegals are criminals. Elmont's ethnic population isn't the problem. There are a lot of working class people of all ethnicities who own homes and take care of their property and neighborhood. You people are either racist, ignorant or both. Exercise intelligence and common sense.

Take a stroll in Elmont any hour and then come back and tell how nice of an area it is.

I grew up in ELmont, lived on Lehrer for 30 years. Left there 11 years ago, went back to assist with my parents escape and never went back. It should be fenced in like all the other colorful areas.

i have lived in elmont since i was a small child on eureka avenue.. my parents are here on eureka avenue since 1970.. there are too many losers troublemakers and drug dealers in and around here.. the good people are afraid to speak up..but i am not!!! call the cops..let these low lifes know they are being watched!!! also please someone relay this message to the cops at the 5th precinct!!! i speak up and speak out!!! recently, some imbecile threw garbage in front of our house out their car window..i called them out and threw it back at them!!!!!!!! then i screamed very loud and very long!!! the majority of the people living in my particular enclave are good clean decent people..but i report everyone else!!! if you do not take your garbage out--if you shut your barking dogs up..if you congregate in front of my home..you are in for it!!!!!!!1 WE PAY TAXES LIKE THE RICH IN GARDEN CITY..WE DESERVE THE SAME DAMNED RESPECT!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I joined the Elmont East Civic Association, to see if I can help since I live here. I regularly call 911 (Police advise we should call this number, since the 5th is too busy)- wheh I hear illegal fireworks, and ask for officers to drive down Rosser, to observe all the aggressive drivers flying past stop signs.. We residents have to take control!

I grew up on Lehrer, between Kiefer and Surprise during the 60s to the 80's. My advice...Escape while you can.

I know, unfortunately it's not that simple. I'm on Rosser-drag race capital! I have a choice, ignore or fight - I'm fighting, to have Police enforce laws that are being broken.
