I worked at a Weis in Frederick,MD during college about 10 yrs. ago and it is the most mismanaged place imagineable.10 cashiers at dawn when the store was a ghost town and 1 bewtween the peak hours of noon and 7.Not surprised they can't even figure out not to sell to minors. The Weis family is rumored to be waiting for some elderly family members to die so they can then have control to sell it off.Hopefully to a better managed entity.

I agree with Carl. Weis Markets practice age discrimination and the reason they're changing the mr z's name to weis markets is to hide their law suits.

The name change to Weis has nothing to do with Lawsuits. Man where did you hear that????? All Kings and Mr. Z's stores became Weis Markets. Maybe you should check your facts on why the names changed before gossiping on here. And hmm - age discrimination? That's a funny one too. My store has a huge array of ages - from 16 to 70. But spread what you want you will anyway! A lot of stores get fined for selling tobacco to minors and nothing is announced in the media but since the Giant/Weis conversion is happening the media will take any chance they can to put Weis in the spotlight. I worked at Hess in the past and this happened all of the time and I never once saw it in the paper! |
