4 As do a lot of other things, but how many people are calling for the ban of things that actually kill more people than guns? Say; Vehicles - fatty foods - booze - drugs? That is why people probably take anti-gun lobbyist opinion less than seriously. There are a lot of things that contribute to deaths in a much greater number than "guns", but the anti-gun group never seem to mention or even be concerned about these other things: Number of deaths for leading causes of death • Heart disease: 599,413 • Cancer: 567,628 • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 137,353 • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 128,842 • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 118,021 • Alzheimer's disease: 79,003 • Diabetes: 68,705 • Influenza and Pneumonia: 53,692 • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 48,935 • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 36,909 The above figures are taken from the 2009 CDC report: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/deaths_2009_... Just sayin… If someone wanted to be outrageously, outraged about any particular cause of death and injury in the United States that we can do something about, how about at least pick one of the things in the top ten or maybe twenty group? 4 guns do not kill, people kill. And yes it is only the bad apple that kills, my family,friends,and myself have owned guns all if our lives and never killed. And our guns have never grown feet and went and shot someone. You are very misinformed my dear. Now go try to prove that it is not the bad apples ( outside of someone defending themselves) |

2 Not sure of the last British cop you met, but they are armed! They just carry concealed. And, btw, they use the MILITARY to do the heavy lifting in a fire fight...do you really want your cops walking around with an automatic rifle, grenades, etc.? I lived in Europe for several years...nothing is more intimidating that a cop walking the beat with a sub-machine gun hanging over his shoulder. And no compunction as to using it. BTW, our Constitution and the 1st 10 ammendements there to are there for a reason. The first is to give you the right to say what you wish [unless you are in the vicinity of HisObamaness and his SS troops] and the Second is to keep those who would step on any part of them.{Check out Thomas Jefferson's The Federalist Papers sometime} |

True.... So True, and when was the last time a gun jumped up and started pulling it's own trigger? Also stupidity kills but we can not ban stupid people now can we? Guns save life's.... 2 I'll accept your windy post above as your confirmation that you have no reasoned argument, under the 2nd Amendment, that would support your "right" to own a Mac 10 or one of the other illegal firearms, the sole purpose of which is to efficiently kill other human beings. Guys who fear their ability to defend themselves in a fair fight, legal firearm vs. legal firearm, are sad, scared guys. Are you one? Why do your need an illegal firearm to protect you and yours? 2 I'll not read 205 pages of posts to see what you previously posted. If you say you don't support the absolute right to own and use any firearm, illegal or legal, I'll take your word for it. Show me where I spoke up for the prior poster who said simply "guns kill". You'll not find that prior post, because I know that I didn't make it. A morally honest guy would admit that a gun jump off the shelf prior comment was simplistic and silly. Then you assumed, in spite of my statement that I was a sportsman, that I needed to be protected by you. That isn't the case here. I have no fear of legal firarms, owned and used by responsible gun owners, yet you assume that I do. If you are not a member of the Constitutional absolutists / "Strict Constructionists" bunch here, that believe that they have the right under the 2nd Amendment to own and use any legal or illegal firearm, then good for you. If, like these other fringy folks, you believe that there is or should be no firearm that is illegal, not so good. |
