"SCE&G says it wants to raise rates to pay for construction costs for the nearly $10 billion joint project to build two new reactors"

This is SCEG's project that they want to create, so let them pay for it. Did we ask for two new reactors? NO. By the way, what are reactors. We don't even know what our money is going towards! SCEG is a BIG RIP OFF!!!!

It's not really a surprize with this company. What I would like to know is why do I see so so many company vehicles being drove home?I see plenty of SCE&G employees driving home each day in company vehicles and I know quite a few of them.Times are getting hard and it's time SCE&G started cutting back.

You have alot more problems than your electric company wanting to build two new nuclear reactors to help save energy and our environment, if you dont know what a reactor is.

Why naturally they want to take more of our money. SCE&G is made up of some of the weakest link morons I've ever met. These are the folks that the state government wouldn't hire. There are about a dozen of these geniuses in my Church. If I could only get them to cough up the riches they are overpaid with, I wouldn't be the poorest preacher in town.

SCEG has a monopoly (which last time I checked was illegal) on the citizens of Columbia and surrounding areas. We have no choice but to get our electricity etc from there. Therefore, they can do what they dam well please about the rates.

I was living in a one room apartment a few years back, and although we keep the house cool, our bill was over $200 EVERY month. WAY out of order, especially after talking to our neighbors who pay much less for the same space. Incidentally, we don't even use the one room (storage as we pack) and have shut off the vents in there. Still made no difference.

We made a big fuss about it because the bill should be half of what they were charging us-- we were even taking cold showers! They came and checked our meter, and although it was running faster (visibly) than the other around it, they said nothing was wrong. I insisted it be tested, and guess who tests their meters to see if they are charging the customer correctly?? You got it, SCEG. Of course, the meter came back "fine" and "with no problems".

We have already been over-paying those b a s t a r d s for years now and they want to RAISE the rates, without any public voice on it??! WTF?? I am so freakin' glad we are moving out of this state. Alaska may be more expensive, but they also have better paying jobs and you get a cut of the oil money if you live there....I hate the a s s e s at the customer help desk, too. They are total jerks.....they have literally stolen thousands from us over the years.

Bingo, you need to tell these MF that if they don't quit stealing from people who cannot afford it they will burn. Tell them it comes from a consumer.

Sometimes I call them up now on the customer service line at 2am just to piss them off since they call me when I am asleep (even though the over-bill is PAID). I cannot express my hatred of this company enough. Their monopoly is illegal; I can't believe they're getting away with it!

The problem lies not with just SCE&G, but with the Public Services Committee. They are appointed and handpicked,(in majority). Heck, Clyburn's daughter is on it.! Zat tell you anything??

Go ahead and kick us when we are down . With all the fuel prices soaring , add more misery . When we all go bankrupt , who's left to pay SCE&G ? Give us a break ! Other companies spend their own money to improve , why can't SCE&G ?

Because the Public Service Commision guarantees a public utility (SCE&G) to make a profit, therefore they can spend as much as they want, wisely or unwisely, without wondering if they are going to make a profit. Until we get rid of the PSC and the monopoly SCE&G has on it's customer base, we're doomed to pay whatever amount they want. Kinda like the oil companies.

Hey - does anyone remember the "Weather Normalization Adjustment" that was supposed to be a temporary thing? It's still there - right there on your bill - just look for WNA. And another thing. What's happening up in Jenkinsville? Isn't there a nuclear plant up there - that's paid for?

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Sagittarius

Watch out. Your mind is working overtime in full analytical mode, but you may be leaping to unfounded conclusions and reading too much into situations. The result of all this is that you might start to suspect someone's honesty or loyalty, and wonder what exactly they're up to. Don't accuse them of anything awful just yet because it may turn out that you were totally wrong about them.
