Bountiful Blueberries

With great interest, I read your article about blueberries. I don't know where you learned about the Kressen family and their blueberries, and I'd like to add some more information just in case you do a follow-up. I, too, have had blueberries in my back yard for the past 25-30 years. Six bushes, and I get about 45-50 quarts from them each season. If you'd like to see how I've protected my berries from the birds, you're welcome to come see. It's actually a blueberry house...the bushes are enclosed with the netting sandwiched between two layers of chicken wire, and a door into the little house. Quite unique, and my late husband was quite proud of his handiwork. The bushes were his babies, and he loved picking them. I think he even went out and sang to them to make them grow and produce. Thanks for the wonderful story...blueberries are a wonderful summer time treat.

My favorite recipe for blueberries and I use it on waffles and pancakes:

Blueberry Compote:
2 cups of blueberries
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 tsp. cornstarch w1 teaspoon of water

Cook blueberries with sugar until juicy. About 5 minutes.
Add cornstarch mixture. Cook until thickened
