on my way to class the first day of the quarter, I was driving down D street at around ten thirty am, when I watched a girl in a Jeep speed thru the stop sign, strike another girl on a bike, knocking the biker ten feet across the intersection.
we all stopped and stared in horror. A few of us got out of our vehicles and headed toward the scene.
the jeep driver got out, approached the biker, now sitting up and looking shocked, laughed and said "wow I totally just hit you!"
without hesitating, the driver got back into her vehicle and kept driving. WHAT THE FUUUUU.....!!!!!
Several observers ran to the downed biker and made sure she was okay.

this is NOT the first time this has happened and it NEEDS TO STOP! How? Perhaps lowering speed limits to twenty (as they are on University Way) on other streets near the college, installing speed bumps, and making BIKING LANES!!!

I almost got hit last year crossing in a crosswalk myself. I slammed my fists on the drivers hood, pointed into the car, and screamed at them for trying to run the stop sign and nearly hitting me and a fellow student.

We all know that many of the college kids are irresponsible enough when it comes to driving, but there are too many people at risk to not have some sort of action take place for our safety.
