I was curious as to whether or not there would be much interest in a Professional Organizing service? Someone (not a maid) to come in and help you get things in order... Whether it be one small room or an entire home or office. What do you think the demand for such a service would be? I am VERY interested in pursuing this field of business, but new to the area and would like local opinions. Thank you in advance!

Waste of time. 99% of these rednecks are hoarders so that business would not work.

The market for this is probably limited in Elkins and for it to apply as "professional" some kind of credentials and credible endorsements would be indicated.

I want to receive my Certification, but you have to have 1500 paid hours of work. I feel the "Professional" is needed just to avoid confusion in the average Joe or Jane. I would add in some kind of "Professional ATTITUDE" or "Professional DEMEANOR" or something similar to any ads or business cards, etc. I was just trying to put some feelers out for whether or not there was even a market for it in the area. I'm not expecting to make a living from this, but a little extra income from time to time would come in handy, and Organizing is something I have a passion for.

Get the certification. That's the only way a customer can know you've fulfilled minimal requirements to be called a professional. Certification or licensure doesn't guarantee that you'll be competent but it lets the customer know you've been recognized by an official governing organization, and that you can be held accountable for your work. Otherwise, how can a consumer know that you're not just some anybody who charges money for ineffective work?

Will you guarantee your work? Say I mess it up again within a week??

My goal of course would be to make everything so easy to keep up that you would REALLY have to mess it up to mess it up... But I would probably offer something like a half-price redo or one freebie or something to that effect. Also, I would want to work WITH the customer so that they know where things are and how I sorted things, etc etc... I don't want to just clean it up, I'm not a maid. I want to HELP people get a place for everything and put everything in it's place, and be able to KEEP it in place.
And about the certification, like I mentioned before, I need 1500 hours of PAID work before I can get it. So some people would have to be a sort of guinea pig, and those people would get a discount and/or different guarantees than the customers I may get after certification. And I would definitely let them know that I was not YET certified, but I still want their 100% happiness with the entire process and end result.
