2 nothing new here, this has been the tactic of the xtian political arm for centuries. and regretfully the goats in the pews tend to suck it up like water in the desert - because they want "someone" (extremists in most cases) to enforce their god-laws (as they see them) on others so they dont have to work too hard on their own lives.("if others behaved better, I could too!") this is more of the centuries long finger-pointing among xtians. "that group overthere are not TRUE xtians but I/we are. because I/we have the right interpretation and they dont." |

1 They claimed it was over issues like abortion and family values, but only the idiots didn't see the fraud in that. Protestant protest. com has explained a lot of that. Not only are those issues a farce, but the truth is that both the Protestant churches and Republican Party worship the same god: the Almighty Dollar. Together they've made greed a sacrament. Smart people got out of those churches long ago. Some of them figured out that those ministers were deceiving them, and were speaking for Satan. |

1 I went to two Catholic schools in Philadelphia for ten years. You couldn't get any more conservative schools than these. Yet the religious orders teaching these schools also imparted a profound value of amaterialsm. The high school priests were also very active in their mission in South Africa with what's described a liberation theology. As says in the above referenced article, Barbara Ehrenreich in a follow up to her claim that Christ was a socialist says,“I take it back. He was actually a little to the left of that, judging from his instruction to the rich man to sell all that he had and give to the poor. If that’s what it takes to be a true Christian, believe me, it’s a hell of a lot easier to be a socialist: You have to dedicate yourself to working for the poor, just as a Christian should, but at least you get to keep your stuff.” Add to that Matthew 19:24, And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Or, as Dorothy Parker once put it, "If you want to know what God thinks of wealth, just look at who he's given it." Start with Glenn Beck. |

1 while I dont agree about the blaming satan part, as thats just more excuse for human behavior. there is no satan anymore'n there's a god to play the foil, or vice versa. men speak for men, no gods no demons. agree about the greed aspect. and its not just money, but consumption of all resources in general has become part of the objective of xtianity preaching in this nation as xtianity has created yet another myth that the US is the new promsised land, Eden as the early settlers called it - and that as the new chosen peoples, not just xtians but americans by extension - we can do what ever the F we wish with resources as the american ideal has been tainted and promulgated by xtian ethics that this land was given to us by the xtian god to abuse and use as we wish. and we extend that arrogance to the rest of the world. as americans and the "greatest xtians ever to have lived" we can do whatevr we wish and take whatevr we wish... and the historic trend of american businesses to exploit its workers, and the surrounding communities, to abuse the legal system, etc has been bolstered by the xtian right in their allegiance with the wealth and power brokers. by preaching the myth of the individual, the gospel of greed, and the old pull yourself up by oneself myth and that real americans fear god and government, while handing over total control to the chruch and govt, to vote on single stupid issues, to be scared of higher academic learning and science and the list goes on and on... since constantine xtianity has aligned with The Sword and their wealthy supporters who truly dont want to share the wealth (but use the propaganda of those lies to quiet the herds)- while only giving lip-service to their care for the weak and less among us...because they should and must pull their bootstraps themselves. no true charity, no true initiatives to actually fix poverty and its complications for the weak and lesser among us. just dribbles...trickle down...is all we give them... American xtianity in its present and most vocal and powerful shape is merely doing what ITS always done - align with power. seek power and control is all xtianity has ever done in the larger community... you think the problem is a mere three decades old? I say its a lot older. its nearly 2K years old with no end in sight. and when we see how easily the base of xtianity in this nation fall for the politics of fear I see no real end in sight. drop the myths and pick up reality. its a better friend. |

1 regretfully no god gives these dolts anything. stop blaming these dolts accumualted weath and power oo your god or any demons - focus on the morons who give them support and fill their ears with praise, who idolize (actually worship) the becks, limbaughs and hannitys...et al... stupid humans and in this case stupid americans. who think the mere mention of god/faith is all thats needed to legitimize a bunch of snake-oil salesman...american xtians have always shown a lack of skepticism for these types, and have been duped over and over by them like few other groups... |

1 I think someone is confusing Christ with Christians. We do have a friend in Jesus. But, we have to make room for Him, He doesn't push. |

1 Jesus wasn't actually a Socialist - He was to the Left of Socialism. Under Socialism, you get to keep your stuff.(and before anyone asks, when I came to Christianity, my wife and I did give away everything we had and started over) Socialism is the secular expression of the Christian Ideal, as far as it goes, but Socialism treats everyone equally. The Christian Ideal is to put others first. The Christian Ideal is the opposite of the Secular Ideal (and, obviously, the Christian Right)- Christianity calls for elevating the poor and oppressed and lowering the rich and famous. Jesus stated that it's practically impossible (easier for a Camel to fit through the eye of a needle) for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Paul forbade giving special treatment to wealthy members of the church - and yet, that's exactly what many churches do. |

1 no confusion on my part. and I tend not to refer to the J-man as christ, which is an assigned title. one he never claimed nor likely wanted...nor provable... make room? that old gag...making room seems to take on over a thousand different conditions if one listens to born-agains, or converts. "make room" is about as helpful as telling someone stuck in the water not to swallow any... |

1 You're obviously speaking from the 'outside'. When the angel appeared to Mary he said, your child will be called 'Jesus', this is as provable as anything of 'faith' is. "make room" means make room in your life and heart, silly. We are usually filled to the brim of ourselves. |

1 My bad. You said 'Christ' was not provable. I disagree but won't prove it. "One He claimed nor likely wanted", it's all through the Bible about how Jesus was sent by His Father to do the will of His Father. Who wouldn't hesitate to go through what He went through, but He never rejected His Father's will. |

1 you can disagree, but you cant prove that the J-man ever wanted the title of The Christ. lots of things run thru the bible...most of them silliness. but not much prove anything... |

1 seems only xtians are filled to the brim with themselves. seems to be their biggest failing. their egos so bloated because of a belief system. Im special, Im saved. god talks to me! I know god personally! not me. I deflated myself of self and false beliefs that some supernatural beings are intervening in this world many many years ago...been all much lighter since. |
