1 (quote who+"JayJay" You are absolutely correct on the break issue. I dont know how but Caseys does not provide breaks and could care less if u get one. I worked there for 10 years and i worked 9 hours 6 days a week sometimes 16 hours a day, and u was watched to make sure u stayed busy the whole time and didnt waste a min on their payroll. I also spent many hours there for free becasue you do not have time as mangement to get done what they wanted, and hourly employees would help for free because they felt sorry for you and knew what would happen if work wasnt completed. |

1 First off, it seems when you start there, the management and district management is all good with you getting a good raise. It doesn't matter how hard you work or how nice of an employee you are, as the years go by, your raises decrease or vanish completely. Second, I could never plan anything! If I were to miraculously get two days off back to back and plan something, something would happen to make that phone ring and it be them on the other end. This is one bad thing about running a store with a minimum crew. Last but not least, Casey's all-mighty policies, along with their deaf ear towards the customer. It's pretty bad when you're the pizza maker, and you can't adjust the mechanical dough roller you use to actually flatten the dough. You get to spread a ball of dough that is COLD that is as big as your fist to something that is as wide as a large pizza pan! Pretty hard to do without ripping a HOLE in the center of it. Nope, if you get caught changing the "By the book" settings, you are WRITTEN UP. I would be working the register all of the time and customers would say, "Gee, it would sure be nice if you guys had styrofoam cups!" I smile and reply, "Well we've been trying to get them here for the past 6 years, but the company just haven't gotten to it yet!" meanwhile knowing that Casey's won't ever get them. I ended up quitting Casey's after they refused to let me go on my first week-long vacation even with a 6 month notice. Conclusion: Don't work here unless you really need the money. Sure it may be better in other stores, but I may of just hit a sour one. The supervisors and district managers are mostly snobs and hardly ever acknowledge that the store employees exist, unless ofcourse they've violated one of their treasured policies. |

I've been with my gf for 2 1/2 years, all the while enduring her low wages and ridiculous schedule while working at Caseys in Illinois. After 5 years she finally is told she'll be promoted to manager after the one before her, who was currently on welfare receiving food stamps while making 28,000$, quit her position. Then she is told that she can't have the job becuase she received a ticket for illegal transportation of alchohol when she was 17 years old. Coincidentally, as the assistant manager for the last few years, she has had access to everything a manager would, and performed all of the tasks a manager does, but yet she is not qualified?...something is fishy here and i'm trying to find some help, cuase this is some bs if you ask me.

My issue with Casey's is not like the other posts here. Mine involves myself and five other employees who where discharged for eating pizza (or other food prepared by the kitchen) and not paying for it. Although we are aware this is against company policy and is a justifiable discharge. We where stunned when it happened, as this is COMMON PRACTICE in this store. An infraction, not only allowed, condonned and ignored by the managment, but they themselves commited as well. We where caught on camera doing so and dischared because of it, but ironically the managment staff where not. We find this hard to believe and firmly believe their actions where overlooked or ignored by the area supervisor,as to date, the managment staff are still employed there. To make matters worse, 4 of the five of us discharged for the same reason, have now been charged with simple misdameanor 5th degree theft.
Now, I ask you to contemplate this. What exactly is going on in this store, and why where 5 employees made to be the scapegoats for a store that reportably where losing profits and made to pay for this in every way possible. When in fact, we may have been guilty, but others: IE: managment who are supposed to be doing their jobs: running the store, making sure infractions where implemented through disaplinary actions etc. These managers still have their jobs and are not being charged with theft, leaving them free to do it all over again, because obviously the area supervisor has allowed this to happen. I need help to stop this in that store, make sure that ALL employees who commited the same infractions as I and the other 5 discharged employees suffer the same fate as us. AND on top of this, I need to fight a theft charge in court. Where do I,(WE) start???????? |

My wife made asst. manager in three months with Casey's and we live 16 miles away. So maybe its just you they did not like. Casey's like outher corporations are all about profit or they would not be in business. They are also ownned by the Wal-Mart (Walton) family. Need I say more!

I worked for Casey's 12 years ago as a 2nd job (for about a year). Our manager always made sure we had breaks, and were paid for ALL of our time. She also made sure that all times were covered etc, and would be more than happy to call to find a replacement, or work your shift yourself as long as you didn't make a habit of it.
Fast forward to this year. I have been with them for the past 4 months and think it's terrible. I am scheduled for 10+ hours at a time, and no freakin break. I am the only one in the store who is trained to run the register (during my shift). If the kitchen people need a break, I have no clue what to do back there, so they can't take a break either. Many times I have complained and ever suggested how she could get breaks in for people. All I am told is, "I work for 14 hours a day and I don't get a break either." She sits at her desk most of the day, has a 2nd register open that someone else runs, and runs all sorts of errands where she is sitting all damn day! If the other person gets too busy, she rarely comes out unless you literally YELL at her for help. It's very frustrating. This company has gone either gone down over the years or my first store was a complete fluke. And I worked for Wal-Mart for over 5 years and NEVER had the problems I have now. I wasn't aware the Waltons owned Casey's also. You may be misinformed on that. |

I worked at caseys for 11 months...i found out i was pregnant a couple months in...now i did not expect special treatment but a break would have been nice every now and then...here i am 9 months pregnant on a friday night all alone in the kitchen no help whatsoever...back to back orders...when i asked for help on the busy nights i was told no..overtime was a problem on the holidays cause everyone got it off but me and one other person....we were already in overtime when we worked and it was supposed to be time and a half..but when we got our checks we were short about 200 dollars each...happened a couple times when we asked the manager about it we were completely blew off...oh yeah and management a whole other story...talk about thieves!!!! lazy thieves...worthless...if you werent in the clique you were shit in that store...anyway i had to deal with it to pay the bills when it came time to take maternity leave which had been on the calender for a few months ..i was told that i wouldnt have a job when i got back unless i came back within 2 weeks of giving birth...and a week of that would be considered my vacation that for some reason i couldnt take any other time i wanted to..beacuse everyone else got theres first cuz they were there longer...i dont recomend working for caseys to anyone...i would rather live homeless than to work for that company again!!!

This is your manager not Casey's. If she does not turn in your Holiday Pay you can call Wage and Hour or Casey's Corp. Office. It sounds like you have a lazey crew and managers.
