There are many other countries to live in if you do not like the ten commandments, the residents of Newland, NC will not miss you at all, I will be glad to help you pack. I personally am tired of the United States being the land of the offended.

They do need removed unless you want the satanists to have the right to put up THEIR 10 "commandments"... Seriously, quit being egomaniacs. They can go on ANY private property that chooses host it. This is only about creating a divide to piss people off when the truth is, it can be moved 200 ft across the road and be fine most likely... I have no doubt ANY of the churches in stones through would deny the opportunity to host it.

In context, the separation of church and state does not apply. The only connection between church and state is The Ten Commandments is in a building that houses government offices. The Church is not dictating to the State on law here and the state is not dictating to the Church on doctrine.

That group is only using it as a way to try to get it removed because they have an issue with it and the religion it represents.

Try again. The constitution protects PEOPLE, it does not grant them anything. It does protect them from the STATE forcing religious beliefs on them however. The only ones that make this a complicated topic are the ones so arrogant they think they have everyone's master plan, and Hitler did too...

I was clearly wrong. They are not satanists at all and it seems obvious from this page I was wrong about the separation of church and state issue and I apologize for calling someone a satanist because I was ignorant to the law and that they were really just supporting the Constitutional principle of Church and State, as implemented by the founding fathers.

You should boycott money as well.. "In God We Trust". You should also never be a juror in court. You put your hand on the Holy Bible. Hey you should also break the law. 50,000 laws derive from the 10 commandments. Every single significant symbol of this country has God written on it. This country was built on the foundation "under God". In equality of Gods eyes. The constitution was written in God's perspective. How would God want people to be be treated. A wall hanging of the 10 commandments are not in anyway forcing religion on people. Don't read it! I have an Idea come take it down if you want it down. People with no religion or different beliefs feel singled out. In reality they single themselves out because they want to be noticed.They feed off of controversial subjects. I dare you to come take our commandments down! We as Christians need to stop letting a select few decide what is good for our communities and country.The fight with good and evil starts now! Actually, you don't! You can elect to affirm in lieu of an oath. Per NC General Statute 11-4: "the words of the affirmation shall be the same as the words of the prescribed oath, except that the word "affirm" shall be substituted for the word "swear" and the words "so help me God" shall be deleted."

Actually, this country was built on the concept of religious freedom and the government "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" If you have any question that the founders desired the US to be a secular nation, you need look no farther than the Treaty of Tripoli.

What reason does an atheist have to care about anything since they don't beleive in anything?
What a sad way to live a life. Only it would be worse to live an atheist life in another country because most countries its their way or death.

U know everyone has rights! U don't have carte blance on religion! If u start putting up religious symbols in public buildings thenu open up the can of worms! Separation of church and state is designed to protect everyone u included!

Rights u are right! U know I would stand up for anyone's right to practice their religion, but in this country we don't have a state religion. So in this country we all have the right to practice our religion. It's called freedom of religion! When we begin to put religion in our schools then we must give equal time to all religions so I dont think that we should be pushing any one religion over another. It's designed to protect everyone!

I myself, as an agnostic, have zero problem with your 10 commandments being up in public. I don`t have to look at them and I sure as f*** don`t have to take the brainwashing either!

If you would take your nose out of your book and really, i mean really, practice what you preach , there would be less problems within your religion.
