That's terrifying, that it's gone on so long. That poor woman.

I imagine she did change her email address - again and again. I've been pursued by someone through three email address changes. Thankfully, he eventually got the message and went away, but our email addresses are available all over the place. So is our personal information, like our phone numbers, IP addresses, home addresses (try Google Street View - it's creepy!), and work records. You can even tell where someone works by looking at a automatically-generated profile on LinkedIn. It's SCARY, and most people have no idea the information is out there until someone starts using it against them.

GD nut should have been kept in Elgin for life. He'll never be rehabilitated. Scary, GD creep!

This is a case where the guy needs to be locked up - permanently.

Hmmm, somebody got low marks on reading comprehension, no? The article clearly stated that he served time previously for stalking this young woman and that he used the public library for internet access.

Why should she have to change her email address? Should she have moved out of the country in the hope that the alleged stalker didn't follow her?

The laws are so weak in this area it is pathetic. A restraining order is difficult at best to enforce. Many domestic cases start with a restraining order, there are two versions, and the victim still winds up very dead...This guy does need Psych help, however he won't get it locked up in one of these "mental hospitals". The mental health system in this state is a farce. Those types of places are mere holding tanks and in no way shape or form help the patient to heal. The woman, unfortunately has to take steps to get away from this guy. The guy is obsessed with her and even though she is the victim she has to be pro-active in distancing herself from him. Through the court advocacy programs she should be able to find out when he gets out, where, etc and she is going to have to to live a "normal" life.

I have to give this woman credit for reacting humanely and in the bounds of the law. How long can someone endure this harassment before turning from being the hunted to the hunter?

Don't worry the limp-wristed liberal judicial system here in Illinois will make sure he is out on the streets again soon. He'll get great rehabilitation while in jail for 3 months. Hope this woman buys a gun because he most likely will be back.

Devo you asked how does a homeless guy get internet access. Easy. Just go to your local public library. They let these smelly dirtbags in to bath in the sinks and surf for porn. It's like a well lit flop house for them.

Even smelly dirtbags have rights and, no, if they are caught looking at porn we call the cops. Oh, and pre-computer, bums would nod off in chairs, drool on books, and pee on the furniture--at least we can clean the computers) I was hoping someone would comment on libraries since our library has a problem with idiot parents who dump their kids at the library for free daycare while they go to work. The library is public and thus anyone can come in and that includes perverts, drunks, drug addicts, and other dirtbags. If you care about your kid, scrape up the cash somewhere and be responsible.
