Everyone can hate on Brandon but he might be the one who discovers the cure for your brain cancer or why your nutsacks are shrinking. So instead of hating on Brandon, find out what school he goes to and send him a card.

Sheesh, some people are just freaken haters no matter what. Go Brandon!

I am so tired of people feeling sorry for themselves because they are poor or using where they live as an excuse or their race. IT's TOTAL BS. If you want to go somewhere in life you are going to have to work your a** off. It's all up to the individual. Congratulations Brandon!

Would have been news if he didn't come form a posh life, but had to truly struggle and persevere to achieve this great feat. But some Asian kid from a well off family who attends a posh high school, would you really expect he do anything less?
how do you know brandon goes to a posh school??
or that his family is well off.
i should be the one getting straight As; i go to a pretty 'posh' school, come from a well off family, and am asian. and yet, my grades are bs and cs. hm.. contradiction maybe?

It seems you feel the world owes you a living. Maybe YOU should try the pulpit.
More like she beat the odds, worked hard, didn't get knocked-up, didn't get hooked on drugs, got a great education, and now works for an institute of higher learning.

Another much-needed positive role model for our youth.

Go Brandon. Ignore people who can't even stay on topic. Take what is yours. The world won't give you a thing. You earned it. Go take the glory.

Thank you so much! That is what I did and I had to deal with people who wanted to make excuses for my success. You got it almost exactly right, except I interview on the side to thank my school for providing me with a great education.

You go, Brandon. Wherever you want.

This isn't about me or you, it's about Brandon and his accomplishments. From what I've gathered, this isn't some superstar kid who never saw a grade less than A+, but rather an ordinary kid who did an extraordinary thing. From what I've gathered, this is a kid who was not happy being mediocre, decided he could do better, set out to do better, and exceeded everyone's wildest dreams. This is a kid whose friends and peers respect him. The world needs more Brandons and less Katellas.

Go Brandon.

Well done Brandon, that is QUITE an accomplishment. Anybody on here trying to take that away from him through ridiculous stereotyping ought to get an effing life.

Finally, something positive in the news today...wel done Brandon..

Agreed. Don't you think it is ironic that when a positive story is on the news, everyone complains that it's boring and not news worthy but when violence is on the news, all they can talk about is how Sacramento is going to shit and they are moving. So what do they want to read about, violence or something uplifting? They need to make up their minds.

There is nothing exceptional about "asian intelligence". All it takes is a little bit of perseverence, dedication, and community support. It's sad instead of congratulating this child, you demean his accomplishment as some sort of expected result based on his genetic heritage. Perhaps if you expected a little bit more from your kids, and your friend's kids a perfect SAT would be less of an abberation.
I guess it's easier to believe that your children are deficient though... Rock on Really.
I can see both sides of the "Asian intelligence" argument. My daughter is in the GATE program, she's 10, and has children of all ethnicities in her class.

They are ALL gifted (obviously, or they wouldn't be in the GATE program.. duh) but you can see subtle differences in the STUDY habits of the kids who are from an Asian background.

I think that's the REAL answer here. It's not that they were born with exceptional learning ability, it's more of a cultural thing. Possibly because they strive to excell as a way to rise above prejudice, who knows. At least with the kids that I know.

They are (sometimes) pressured to study for much longer periods of time, and much harder than the kids in her class who are not of Asian descent. That includes the middle east Asian kids. In comparison to the "white" kids, or the Hispanic kids in her class, generally speaking, the Asian children seem to be more focused.

Like I said, however, I do think this is more of a learned behaviour than an inate ability to comprehend.

All that aside, Congratulations to this young man! What a feat! I was pretty proud of my 34 on my ACT Score in high school... but nothing beats a perfect score!:)

I meant to get on here and tell this kid that he should be so proud of his accomplishment. It's MORE than admirable. Look at the statistics here, 269 kids NATIONWIDE got a perfect score. That's pretty unbelievable. Kudos!!

(Of course, then I got sucked into the Asian race argument and had to add my 2 cents....)

OH! I just realized that I can use my own self as an example that it is mostly a stereotype that Asian kids are "smarter"... I got that 34 on my ACT's WITHOUT studying. In fact, I never even opened the study guides. I went throughout all my school years EXCELLING on just about every test I ever took... however, and this is a big HOWEVER; I rarely did my homework,(in High School) I rarely turned in anything that was due.. I dropped out of high school 2 months before I was to graduate because I was too bored to even deal with school anymore.

It was springtime, I wanted to party.. my high school sweetheart and I had just broken up, so I was a teenage girl emotional trainwreck.. I did go on to take my GED and I scored something around 710, if I remember correctly, I'm sure I could find it in all the thousands of papers in my filing cabinets. ;)

I'm not doing too bad in my life, my husband and I own our own concrete company, and we do fairly well. However, I often wonder where I would be today if I had followed through. I was receiving recruitment packages from Stanford in the ninth grade!

My point is, I was a white girl, from a middle class/poor family who grew up in (brace yourself) Gillette, WHYoming! My mother worked in the cafeteria at an old folk's home. My father was the driller on an oil rig.(the boss). I had 3 sisters, both my parents were alcoholics and my father was a drug addict.

Drumming up those figures as test scores was not hard for me, so what does that mean? We should start saying that all middle class white girls who are raised in the middle of hell... eh hem, I mean WHYoming are "statistically" smarter than their peers? I think not...

I HAVE taken the SAT. I took it my junior year of high school, and scored 1380. 440 on reading, 450 for writing, and 490 for math. I did not study for it, and I still did alright. The SAT is so over rated.
im sorry, but you are a complete idiot. scoring a 1380 on the SATs is horrible even for a non-asian. the point is not to PASS the SAT it is to get a high score. why else would it be voluntary??
