Elk Grove 24 Hour Fitness has MAJOR PROBLEMS!

24 Hour Fitness-Elk Grove, CA (Sheldon Road) This is the worst managed gym we ever been to. My wife and I are members with 24 hour Fitness for more than 15 years. We worked out almost all the 24 Hour gyms on the West Coast because our work involve alot of traveling. We both workout frequently. We now reside in Elk Grove, CA for 7 years. We own a home and pay property taxes. When we go to our local gym we notice alot of gang members who are not paying members use the basketball court frequently. We notice some fights, foul language and some of them soliciting/selling fake gym passes in the parking lot. Almost all of them do not live in Elk Grove.
A security person watches the front entrance of the basketball court but he is not making a difference. Maybe due to fear?
Decent paying members are complaining and want something to be done. We would like to see a new mangement take over 24 Hour Fitness to enforce the clubs rules and have the basktball courts closed so the riffraff would go somewhere else. Our neighborhood has seen crime problems increase the last thing we want to is to go to the gym and see non paying members or gangs using the facilities creating a tense atmosphere!

if you work hard and see ghetto trash not paying and getting all the benifts of the gym as you it upsets you. These gang mambers are scum how need to be regulated and kicked out of the gym by the gym staff.

There has been an incident this summer where a fight happen in the 24 hour fitness basketball court where a man was waving a gun. It took place inside the gym..the parking lot ..than the shell gas stattion across the street.

Now I notice cars in the parking lot being broken into, stolen and vadelized.

I say close the basketball court which attract gang members to the gym. Let them play at their own neighborhood parks. Most of these gang members are not paying memebers.

If they were members I would not mind but lots of riffraf is coming in and that bothers everyone.

you must be kidding right?..funny..WE never seen this happened. according to police reports last summer there was fight occured in the basketball court where a person was threatening people with a GUN inside the basketball court/gym!..since the basketball draws a violent crowd..why not close the basketball court?
WE thought this suppose to be a family gym not a gym for violent juveniles?!

Jeremy...We just came back from the gym. There were gym bags all over the the courts, profanity being shouted and a "small fight." These infractions are against gyms policy posted in front of the door.

The source of the gyms problems is inside the basketball courts.

Can you tell us why there is a security guard posted in from of the entrance of the basketball court?

I think its kind of pre-mature to automatically label them as "gang members". After all, last time I checked gang members would probably rather be out selling drugs or robbing people than going to the gym for some excersise. What I notice is alot of High Schoolers that frequent the gym and I accept the fact that they are not going to act and talk like how we feel they "should" act. They don't bother me or anyone else that's in the gym for that matter. If whats going on in that gym upsets you so much I would suggest you go to the new one on Calvine and Elk Grove Florin road since they don't have a basketball court

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck chances are, it's a duck! I don't care if these people are gang members or not but if they are going to act and dress like a gang member then that's what they are! Gang members have no business in any society period! They cause nothing but problems in communities and the last place they should be allowed in are places where decent, hard working people pay to workout. A gym is a great place to work out and relieve stress. It's not a place where you have to worry about hoodlums taking over the basketball court or stressing over the safety of your car!

Shame on 24 hour fitness for not taking care of this issue. They do have the right to refuse business to anyone and if these idiots are not following the rules of the establishment then they need to get the boot!

I am a member and i was surprized to see the staff let a large pack of youngsters in to the bball courts. It seem to me that there's no other place for the kids to go so they hang out there. yeah the management must step up their enforcement of the rules but this problem only awakens us to the bigger issue.

we outta be trying to create places for them to go. The city of elk grove has expanded very rapidly, there are many place to eat and shop but the city lacks youth centers and entertainment venues.

Maybe a malabu or scandia fun park would be the answer. That would provide youth employment and entertainment... what about a Dave and Busters... if you live in elk grove, contact your city council members.. maybe they can incorporate youth friendly venues.

Last spring a fight occurred in the basketball court during a game. One of the players pulled out a gun. Today there is a security person that watches the basketball court. Is this consider "gang violence?" Whats the purpose of a security guard at the door of the basketball court? Would you go and pay to a gym like this?
Why should paying members go to another gym to accommodate "gang members" who abuse the benefits of the gym? We live in Elk Grove/Sac and pay taxes to this district and this is our home. This is our neighborhood gym where it is suppose to be peaceful place to work out NOT to accommodate "gang members" who do not follow the rules or probably do not pay membership fees.
This has nothing to do with race or income but whats right and wrong.....Is this a family gym or Folsom prison? Why not play basketball at their own local schools or parks?

Why cant these people play at their own school or neighborhood park? Plenty of basketball courts there! This is 24 hour Fitness Gym not a benefit package for the under privilege!
Prefer to see my tax dollars pay for more police officers to stop home invaders, street racers and violent crime.

violent people basically now days are gangmembers. it is obvious there is a gangmember problem. if there wasn't there wouldnt be a rent a cop watching the courts and obviously not doing his job. thats cool if you like gangmembers or they haven't gotten to your car in the lot yet...give it time, its time to get rid of the trash and take the gym back

dave and busters is an ADULT (21+) arcade and they serve alcohol good choice loser, better yet lets build a mall

I have an idea, why don't the paying members start playing more basketball so when the non-members show up to play they will have to wait their turn thus giving them less play time. while this is happening you may be able to meet one or two for these young fellas and you'll make a friend.

The management is getting greased under the table by these thugs.

I once saw a fight break out in the weight room between two of them having a "roid rage".
All they are is thugs, they try to use 2 to 3 benches or machines at the same time hogging up all the weights and space like they own the place. They don’t replace weights they leave their empty gatorade bottles all over the place they don’t wipe down the benches leaving them covered with sweat. They wear sweat pants and ski caps in the middle of summer. Women are afraid to workout there so all we see are thugs. None of them have jobs unless you call pimping and selling drugs a job.
I'm done with 24 hour fitness; I'm joining a private club.

i agree with the lack of facilities in Elk Grove for the youth. It is unfortunate that some people fear thier property may be damaged, or that thier saftey is at risk, but we shouldn't label people. No, It isn't o.k. for people to be let in for free, hang out, or duplicate passes. It is NOT o.k. to act violent and use profanity in these places, but the first gentlemen that started this conversation almost sounds racist. Maybe moving to Calvine/ 24hr isn't the answer. I agree with this comment... Contact the Elk Grove City Hall and find a way to change it. I am also a home owner, I have children, and I work out. Elk Grove has changed over the last 20 years and will continue to grow more diverse. Maybe you should work out at home?
